  • Publication number: 20230320383
Abstract: The present invention provides probiotic compositions comprising isolated bacterial strains, referred to herein as LactX, StrepX1 and StrepX3. Methods of using the compositions to increase growth rate in pigs and enhance pig production are also provided.
    Type: Application

  • Publication number: 20230272490
Abstract: Sets of bacterial features were identified in the nostrils, nasopharynx, and lungs of cows that can be used to predict the likelihood that a cow will develop bovine respiratory disease (BRD) or to diagnose BRD. The present invention provides methods and kits for selecting cows to treat for BRD based on the levels of these biomarkers in the respiratory microbiome. Using these methods and kits, producers may selectively treat cows deemed to be at risk for BRD, saving money and decreasing antibiotic use.

  • Publication number: 20210032687
Abstract: To gain insights into the relationship between microbiota and fertility, the vaginal and fecal microbiomes of female cows were examined throughout pregnancy. Next generation sequencing and Random Forest modeling were used to identify bacterial biomarkers present in vaginal and fecal samples that are predictive of pregnancy status. The present invention provides methods and kits that can be used to select female cows to include in a breeding program based on detection of these biomarkers.
