  • Patent number: 11418289
Abstract: Some embodiments of the present disclosure provide a user equipment (UE) having active device components and passive device components. Responsive to receiving downlink (DL) transmissions in time division duplexing (TDD) mode, the active device components perform DL decoding while the passive device components perform passive transmission of ACK/NACK data. Such passive transmission may involve encoding the ACK/NACK data in an altered version of received radio frequency (RF) signals and using so-called backscatter communications to reflect the received RF signals, with alteration, using the same frequency resources used to receive the DL transmissions.

  • Patent number: 11412513
Abstract: By defining more SCS options and Discrete Fourier Transform (“DFT”) options for transmissions in future networks, there arises cause to select from among the options, with aspects of the channel as guidance for the selection. In addition, new CP designs may be defined for use with the new SCS options and the new DFT options along with methods of selecting a CP design appropriate to a particular situation. The new CP designs may be shown to have smaller CP overhead when compared to the known CP designs used for known combinations of an SCS option with an FFT size option. New sampling frequency design options and new system basic timing options may also be defined, along with methods of making appropriate selections from among these options. Control signaling using higher layers may be used to distribute configuration options that include multiple SCS options, CP duration options, sampling frequency options and DFT size options per sub-band.

  • Publication number: 20220248451
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided in which a UE transmits sidelink (SL) control information comprising a scheduling assignment (SA) indicating an SL transmission resource for a SL data transmission to a target UE. The SL transmission resource is based on one or more occupied SL resources identified by the UE and the SL transmission resource includes resources for an initial transmission and one or more retransmissions. The UE then transmits the SL data transmission using the SL transmission resource according to the transmitted SL control information. This is done without receiving, in a downlink control information (DCI), a grant of communication resources.

  • Patent number: 11405057
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for providing H-ARQ transmissions in respect of a set of horizontal code blocks are combined in a code. Retransmissions contain vertical parity check blocks which are determined from verticals from the set of horizontal code blocks. Once all the vertical parity check blocks have been transmitted, a new set may be determined after performing interleaving upon either the content of the horizontal code blocks, in the case of non-systematic horizontal code blocks, or over the content of encoder input bits in the place of systematic horizontal code blocks. The interleaving may be bitwise or bit subset-wise. The retransmissions do not contain any of the original bits. In the decoder, soft decisions are produced, and nothing needs to be discarded; decoding will typically improve with each retransmission.

  • Publication number: 20220209913
Abstract: Aspects of the present application provide methods and devices for use in User Equipment (UE) cooperation. A packet transmitted between a base station and a UE or between UEs includes a packet destination identifier that identifies a destination of the packet. A receiving the packet from a base station or another UE can determine whether the UE is the destination of the packet. When the UE is the destination of the packet, the UE decodes the packet. When the UE is not the destination of the packet, the UE forwards the packet to another UE. The packet may include a packet source identifier that can be used by the destination to determine where the packet originated. In some instances, the cooperative UEs do not need to decode the entire packet to be able to determine the destination of the packet and therefore can forward the packet along with less processing.

  • Patent number: 11363566
Abstract: Data is scrambled at a transmitter according to one of a number of predetermined scrambling sequences which are associated with a particular one of a number of predetermined transmit antenna diversity schemes (i.e., a specific number of transmit antenna ports). Received data is decoded using one or more of the known transmit antenna diversity schemes and the scrambled data is descrambled according to a corresponding descrambling sequence (related to the scrambling sequence). Based on the descrambled data, the receiver determines which transmit antenna diversity scheme (i.e., the number of antenna ports) is used by the transmitter. In one specific embodiment, CRC parity data is scrambled in the transmitter and the receiver descrambles the recovered CRC parity data according to a descrambling sequence, computes CRC parity data from the received data, and compares the descrambled CRC parity data to the newly computed CRC parity data.

  • Patent number: 11349550
Abstract: An integrated terrestrial/non-terrestrial network may allow for enhanced network coverage. However, there are control and management challenges associated with an integrated terrestrial/non-terrestrial network because the network and user equipments (UEs) are no longer confined to only using conventional cellular communication via terrestrial transmit-and-receive points (T-TRPs). One challenge is how to perform beam management. In some embodiments, methods and systems are disclosed in which an indication of angular direction (e.g. beam direction) is provided by the T-TRP. The indication of angular direction may be used by a UE for communicating with a non-terrestrial TRP (NT-TRP), e.g. using beamforming. However, the methods are not limited to integrated terrestrial/non-terrestrial networks or the involvement of NT-TRPs, but apply more generally to indicating angular direction for directional communication.

  • Patent number: 11349531
Abstract: The present invention employs a pilot scheme for frequency division multiple access (FDM) communication systems, such as single carrier FDM communication systems. A given transmit time interval will include numerous traffic symbols and two or more short pilot symbols, which are spaced apart from one another by at least one traffic symbol and will have a Fourier transform length that is less than the Fourier transform length of any given traffic symbol. Multiple transmitters will generate pilot information and modulate the pilot information onto sub-carriers of the short pilot symbols in an orthogonal manner. Each transmitter may use different sub-carriers within the time and frequency domain, which is encompassed by the short pilot symbols within the transmit time interval. Alternatively, each transmitter may uniquely encode the pilot information using a unique code division multiplexed code and modulate the encoded pilot information onto common sub-carriers of the short pilot symbols.

  • Patent number: 11343123
Abstract: Some embodiments of the present disclosure provide for use of a linear chirp signal as a basis for a sensing signal. Modification of the linear chirp signal by a signature function can allow a receiver of the sensing signal to determine an identity for a source of the sensing signal. Accordingly, upon processing the received sensing signal to obtain path parameter estimates, the receiver can direct a transmission of an indication of the path parameter estimates to the source of the sensing signal. Aspects of the present application relate to performing multi-node, multi-path channel estimation on the basis of processing the received sensing signal. Conveniently, the processing is performed with low complexity.
