Abstract: A method for determining information about access barring includes the steps of: receiving a message set transmitted via a radio interface to a user equipment, the message set including at least a starting message that is a paging message; obtaining at least a first hit of a bit set from the starting message, wherein the bit set includes at least two bits and is intended for access barring; determining information of the hit set; the information at least disclosing whether the access barring is on or off; and receiving a system information block transmitted via the radio interface to the user equipment, the system information block comprising a scheduling information list that lists a further system information block that contains access barring parameters.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided to schedule the uplink grant in a manner that efficiently utilizes uplink resources. In the context of a method from the perspective of the user equipment, an indication regarding data to be transmitted is received and a scheduling request is caused to be provided via a control channel. The scheduling request is configured to indicate a size of the data to be transmitted. In response to a grant, data may be caused to be transmitted via allocated uplink resource blocks. In the context of a method from the perspective of a base station, a scheduling request including an indication of the requested size of the uplink grant is received via a control channel. The method may cause the grant to be provided to a user equipment and, in response, may receive data from the user equipment via allocated uplink resource blocks.

Abstract: A method of informing a user equipment about access barring includes the steps of: determining a bit set for the access barring, wherein the bit set includes at least two bits and discloses at least whether the access barring is on or off; placing at least a first bit of the bit set in a starting message, the starting message being one the following messages: a master information block message or a paging message; and transmitting the bit set in a message set via radio interface to the user equipment, the message set including at least the starting message. The starting message may disclose whether the remaining access barring information need to be read.

Abstract: A radio access network includes user equipments configured to one of several classes, and is capable of being configured to bar access, at least temporarily, from a user equipment according to its class in order to reduce congestion, by transmitting equipment class barring data which indicates at least one class of user equipment which is to be barred. A user equipment receives signalling data including an equipment class access barring data item, and one or more additional data items indicative of loading of the radio access network. The user equipment matches its class to the equipment class barring data item, and in response to the matching, sets a barred status at the user equipment. In response to the barred status setting, the user equipment determines a delay time for an attempt to access the radio access network, based at least in part upon the one or more additional data items.

Abstract: A method, an apparatus for wireless communication and a relay node for wireless radio communication. According to the invention the method includes setting a random access message format for establishing a connection between an apparatus for wireless communication and a relay node, the random access message format including a first, a second and a third portion: the first portion including information of the size of a cyclic prefix, the second portion including the size of random access information, and the third portion including guard time information; transmitting information about the random access message format consisting of the second portion and the third portion, prestoring in a memory a value for the first portion, receiving a second portion of a random access message, and detecting a received random access message based on the prestored value for the first portion, and on the received second portion.

Abstract: There are provided measures for advanced machine-to-machine communications. Such measures may exemplarily includes conducting machine-to-machine packet transmission of a machine device residing in a connected mode by using a bearer connection with a security context, causing transition of the machine device from the connected mode to an intermediate mode, in which the machine device is neither in connected mode nor in idle mode, after completion of the machine-to-machine packet transmission, and keeping the security context of the connection for the intermediate mode, and causing transition of the machine device from the intermediate mode to the connected mode after elapse of an inactivity period of the machine-to-machine packet transmission, and conducting machine-to-machine packet transmission of the machine device residing in the connected mode by reactivating the bearer connection with the kept security context.

Abstract: A solution for sharing random access parameters is provided. A plurality of terminal devices shares the same random access parameters, e.g. the random access preamble sequence, and different transmission opportunities are assigned to the terminal devices. The different transmission opportunities are used to distinguish the terminal devices in the random access procedure.
