  • Patent number: 8058068
Abstract: The present invention provides compositions useful for transfecting eukaryotic cells comprising nucleic acid complexes with peptides, wherein the peptide is optionally covalently coupled to a nucleic acid-binding group, and cationic lipids or dendrimers as transfection agents. The invention also provides transfection compositions in which a peptide is covalently linked to the transfection agent (lipid, cationic lipid or dendrimer). Inclusion of peptides or modified-peptides in transfection compositions or covalent attachment of peptides to transfection agents results in enhanced transfection efficiency. Methods for the preparation of transfection compositions and methods of using these transfection compositions as intracellular delivery agents and extracellular targeting agents are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6997516
Abstract: A seat (chair, stool, etc.) has a seat base with a contoured front that is recessed in the middle. The recess extends towards a seating center and/or in a downward direction, creating an open area for a seated person. The open area is located under the body part around the testes of a seated male person so that the dispersion of body heat from that area via air circulation will not be blocked by the seat base, and at the same time, the pressure between the testes area and the seat base will be reduced or eliminated, thereby improving the physiological condition for sperm, and in turn, may increase sperm activity and may reduce the possibility of infertility. A mobile recessed part that can be moved in and out of the open area in the seat base makes the seat convertible.

  • Publication number: 20050107258
Abstract: The present invention provides compounds and compositions capable of stimulating plant growth, regeneration of plant cells and tissues, and transformation of plant cells and tissues, comprising mono- and multi-substituted auxinic analogues of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) comprising substituent groups such as halo, alkyl, alkoxy, acyl, acylamido and acyloxy groups. The invention relates to a method of using such mono- and multi-substituted auxinic analogues of IAA to affect growth, regeneration or transformation in monocotyledonous and dicotyledonous plants, as well as in transgenic plant tissues. The invention also contemplates the use of these auxinic IAA analogues in the presence of other plant growth regulators, such as cytokinin, etc., to enhance plant growth.
