    Abstract: An optical connector includes an insulative housing, an optical module movably retained on the insulative housing, and a spring being assembled between the insulative housing and the optical module along a front to back direction. The optical module has a hemispheric projection at a rear side thereof. The spring has a first end positioned on the insulative housing and a second end ringing on the projection and resisting against a hemispheric surface of the projection. The second end moves on the hemispheric surface of the projection when the spring is compressed to move upwardly or laterally.

The cover has a base to cover a front end of the mating port, and an insertion portion extending into the mating port to cover the contacts along an up to down direction and the optical module along a front to back direction. The limiting mechanism can prevent the cover from detaching from the connector body when the cover is pulled out of the mating port.

The connecting portions are offset relative to the contact portions of the corresponding contacts in a transverse direction so as to leave said cavity open rearward and allow said optical module to be assembled into the cavity from the rear side of the insulative housing.
