  • Patent number: 9192319
Abstract: A method for separating signal sources by use of physically unique dictionary elements. The method is particularly advantageous for separating cerebral from artifactual sources in electroencephalographic (EEG) recording, making use of dictionary element pattern recognition methods that are tuned to the unique physical properties of each source domain.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 13, 2012
Date of Patent: November 24, 2015
    Assignee: Electrical Geodesics, Inc.
Inventors: Jidong Hou, Don M. Tucker

  • Patent number: 7269325
Abstract: The present innovation discloses the design, configuration and process of a kind of MEMS-based tunable optical devices. The devices can be classed as dual-cavity of Fabry-Perot resonators, which consist of a first outer membrane, a middle membrane and a second outer membrane. And these membranes are separated by cavities. The membranes will deflect under electrostatic force and the thicknesses of cavities will change. The numbers of the layers of membranes should satisfy an equation. These devices can be adopted for optical switches, VOA or tunable filters.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 1, 2004
Date of Patent: September 11, 2007

  • Patent number: 7192800
Abstract: A method to change the profile of released membranes is disclosed. This method is to form an island structure at certain regions of membranes. Membranes comprise one or several layers of different materials, and at least one layer has intrinsic or residual stress. The profile of membrane will change from being flat to curved at the region of island structure when membranes are released from sacrificial layers.

  • Patent number: 6727562
Abstract: The present invention discloses a tunable optical device. The tunable optical device includes a tuning cavity having a tuning means provided for alternately bonding to at least two different tunable optical cells each comprising a tuning membrane wherein the tuning cavity disposed near the tuning membrane for moving the tuning membrane for tuning one of the at least two tunable optical cells bonded thereon. In a preferred embodiment, the tuning cavity further includes a first electrode disposed on the tuning membrane and a second electrode disposed on a substrate supporting the tuning cavity for applying a voltage to move the tuning membrane. In a preferred embodiment, the optical device further includes an optical device control circuit connected to the tuning means for controlling and moving the tuning membrane.
