Patent number: 11492435Abstract: A method for preparing a biomass-based conductive hydrogel by 3D printing is provided. Firstly, a cellulose-based macromonomer, a rosin-based monomer, an acrylic acid monomer and an initiator are mixed in a certain proportion, stirred, and dissolved at 25-70° C. Then, diisocyanate in an amount of 5-10 wt % of a total mass of the monomers is added to the mixed solution and mixed uniformly to prepare a 3D printing photosensitive resin solution. An SLA light-curing 3D printer is used to print a hydrogel precursor 1 with a complex shape. Next, the hydrogel precursor 1 is heated to obtain a hydrogel precursor 2 with a dual-curing network. Finally, the obtained hydrogel precursor 2 is swelled in a 1-15 wt % alkaline solution at 5-60° C. for 0.1-10 hours to obtain the biomass-based conductive hydrogel.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 2020Date of Patent: November 8, 2022Assignee: INSTITUTE OF CHEMICAL INDUSTRY OF FOREST PRODUCTS CAFInventors: Fuxiang Chu, Jifu Wang, Chuanwei Lu, Chunpeng Wang

Patent number: 9357775Abstract: Methods for forming rosin-derived cationic compounds are provided. The method can include attaching a cationic group to a conjugated diene on a hydrophenathrene-based ring of a resin acid (e.g., levopimaric acid, abietic acid, dehydroabietic acid, or a mixture thereof) to form a rosin-derived cationic compound. Attaching the cationic group to the conjugated diene on the hydrophenathrene-based ring of the resin acid can be achieved via a Diels-Alder reaction of a dienophile with the hydrophenathrene-based ring of the resin acid. Rosin-derived cationic compounds are also provided. The rosin-derived cationic compound can include a cationic group attached to a conjugated diene on a hydrophenathrene-based ring of a resin acid, wherein the rosin-derived cationic compound further comprises a carboxylic acid group.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 2014Date of Patent: June 7, 2016Assignee: University of South CarolinaInventors: Chuanbing Tang, Jifu Wang, Alan W.
