  • Publication number: 20240069212
Abstract: A mobile device may include a first antenna positioned on a first substrate, the first antenna in communication with a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receiver to receive first radio signals from at least four GNSS satellites and convert the first radio signals into first electronic signals and a second antenna positioned on a second substrate between 30 degrees and 90 degrees from the first antenna. With such multi-band antenna design, arrangement, and positioning, the GNSS receiver may maximize the number of satellites it can track which results in improved geometry of tracked satellites, which reduces dilution and precision and improves location accuracy of the GNSS receiver.

  • Patent number: 11841444
Abstract: A positioning system and method for resilient ephemeris decoding of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) satellite information is provided. The positioning system decodes first ephemeris data of a satellite in a GNSS satellite constellation and estimates a first position of the satellite at a first time-instant. The positioning system further estimates a deviation between the estimated first position and a position where the satellite is expected to be at the first time-instant and determines the estimated deviation to be above a threshold. The positioning system excludes use of the estimated first position in a position fixing operation of the positioning system based on the determination. The positioning system decodes second ephemeris data of the satellite based on the exclusion, estimates a second position of the satellite at a second time-instant, and controls a position filter of the positioning system to use the estimated second position in the position fixing operation.

  • Publication number: 20230288572
Abstract: A Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) and method for switching between Phase Locked Loop (PLL) and Automatic Frequency Control (AFC) tracking loops inside the GNSS receiver is provided. The GNSS receiver acquires a signal from a satellite of a GNSS satellite constellation and receives information associated with external conditions that impact a decoding performance, or a phase or frequency tracking performance, of the GNSS receiver. The GNSS receiver updates a value of a switching threshold based on the received information and compares a strength of the signal with the updated value. The GNSS receiver selects a tracking loop as one of AFC or PLL, based on the comparison. Thereafter, the GNSS receiver generates, by the selected tracking loop, measurements associated with parameters of a carrier component of the signal and decodes satellite data of the signal based on the measurements.

  • Publication number: 20230280473
Abstract: An apparatus includes one or more processors and logic encoded in one or more non-transitory media for execution by the one or more processors and when executed operable to receive a request from a user for one or more services associated with satellites. The logic is further operable to while performing an initialization process, provide a graphical user interface (GUI) that includes information about one or more of the satellites. The logic is further operable to determine that the initialization process is complete. The logic is further operable to update the GUI to include an option to provide the one or more services associated with the satellites.

  • Publication number: 20180110025
Abstract: Techniques provided herein enable a mobile device to maintain a terrestrial transceiver history indicating the success of previous measurements attempts with terrestrial transceivers for location determination. This history can be used to prioritize terrestrial transceivers with which future measurement attempts are to be made.

  • Patent number: 9699683
Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for detecting earliest arriving downlink signal peaks over all transmit diversity paths received at a same point in time. In an aspect, a wireless mobile device receives a wireless signal comprised of signals transmitted from a plurality of cells each providing a plurality of transmit diversity paths, calculates a channel energy response (CER) vector for each of the plurality of transmit diversity paths of each of the plurality of cells, constructs an overlaid CER vector for each of the plurality of cells, wherein the overlaid CER vector for a cell comprises an overlay of each CER vector of the plurality of transmit diversity paths of the cell, and determines an earliest arrival path of each of the plurality of cells based on the overlaid CER vector for that cell.
