Patent number: 9130932Abstract: A hybrid-model network application includes a native component that provides user-level access to features of a networked computing device and a web client component that provides access to web services of a server. The network application causes the networked computing device to receive content from the server. The content includes user interface content to be rendered by the web client component and code content associated with the user interface content that uses a native function of the networked computing device. The content is displayed in a user interface by way of the web client component. A request, associated with the code content, is received from a user interacting with the user interface. The device handles the request for use of the native function by the native component.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 2012Date of Patent: September 8, 2015Assignee: Cellco PartnershipInventors: Jihui Ding, Dhiman Karmaker, Sudarshan Reddy

Patent number: 8925040Abstract: To reduce or avoid multiple calls for authentication, during mobile device provisioning for broadband connectivity which might otherwise be caused by add-ons associated with a browser, a provisioning gateway or server system maintains a database of records of source addresses and associated mobile numbers. The records may also indicate time of last request from each address. In response to a new request, the system determines if there is a record for the source address. If there is a record, and in our example, if the record indicates that time since the last prior request is less than a threshold value, then the system continues provisioning processing for the device but without any communication with an authentication system. However, if there is no record or if the last request from a source address is older than the threshold, then the system communicates with the authentication system to obtain the directory number for the mobile device.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 2010Date of Patent: December 30, 2014Assignee: Cellco PartnershipInventors: Jihui Ding, Pargat Singh Sandhu

Patent number: 8799426Abstract: A networked computing device may be configured to determine, by a service application executing on the networked computing device, to change a configuration of a network service plan associated with the networked computing device and used by the service application, the network service plan identifying whether at least one service of the communications network is available for use by the networked computing device, request self-provisioning content from a self-provisioning gateway responsive to the determination, provide, by the service application, a user interface for configuration of the network service plan based on the received self-provisioning content, send a change data feature request to the self-provisioning gateway responsive to a request for the change in the configuration of the network service plan through the provided user interface, and allow for utilization of the service application after receiving a response to the change data feature request without having to restart the service applicatioType: GrantFiled: July 5, 2012Date of Patent: August 5, 2014Assignee: Cellco PartnershipInventors: Jihui Ding, Christopher John Lafayette, Frank Joseph Tommasi, Prashanthi Roy

Patent number: 8774766Abstract: A wireless mobile communication device may be configured to include its Mobile Device Number (MDN) and its Mobile Equipment Identification (MEID) with each outgoing communication request when communicating over the internet through a Wi-Fi connection. A server may be configured to authenticate each request by comparing the MEID and MDN which are received from the wireless mobile communication device with MEID and MDN pairs which are stored in an equipment registration database. The wireless mobile communication device may also be configured to communicate at different times through a different type of internet connection, such as through a cellular telecommunication system. During this mode of communication, the IP address and the MDN of the mobile communication device may instead be used for authentication purposes by the server.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 2013Date of Patent: July 8, 2014Assignee: Cellco PartnershipInventor: Jihui Ding
