Abstract: A printing unit is provided including a frame and at least a first printing group having a first plate cylinder and a first blanket cylinder which is intended to co-operate with a pressing cylinder. The printing group further includes a mechanism by means of which the first blanket cylinder can be moved between at least one throw-on position, in which it is pressed against the first plate cylinder and against the pressing cylinder, and a throw-off position, in which it is spaced apart from the first plate cylinder and the pressing cylinder. The support mechanism includes at least one main connection rod which can be moved relative to the frame and which carries the blanket cylinder. The main connection rod can be moved in rotation relative to the frame about the center axis of the first plate cylinder.

The folding device may include a second device for moving the second folding blade relative to the rotor between a passage position and a folding position.

Abstract: A packing sleeve having an evacuatable structure of voids is disclosed, for a cylinder in a printing press, especially a printing plate cylinder or a blanket cylinder. The inner diameter of the packing sleeve can be varied by applying a negative pressure to the evacuatable structure. By drawing a packing sleeve over the cylinder, the outer diameter of the cylinder can be increased.

Abstract: A liquid transfer device for rotary presses includes at least two cylinders which can transfer the liquid, especially ink, and at least one liquid transfer element intended to interact with the two cylinders in order to transfer the ink from one cylinder to the other cylinder. Each liquid transfer element can be displaced in an essentially circular path and come into essentially tangential contact with the cylinders.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for damping bending vibration in a group of cylinders in a printing press is provided. In accordance with the method, the frequencies of the fundamental vibration modes are initially determined and then dynamic dampers are disposed so as to damp the vibrations. In accordance with the apparatus, at least one dynamic damper is disposed inside the envelope of a cylinder in the group of cylinders. It may be formed as a mass held elastically inside the envelope and having a vibration frequency that corresponds to the frequency of a fundamental vibration mode of the group of cylinders.
