  • Patent number: 7671130
Abstract: This document relates to adhesive compositions comprising 1) a thermoplastic vulcanizate of thermoplastic polyurethane and at least partially crosslinked rubber, and 2) an adhesion modifying amount of styrenic block copolymer. These compositions are especially useful in adhering to polar engineering thermoplastics and so find utility in laminates and composite articles comprising at least one polar engineering substrate and the described adhesive compositions.

  • Patent number: 7658720
Abstract: An orthopedic appliance such as a body brace or a prosthesis includes a substantially rigid structure adapted to be placed against a body portion. The orthopedic appliance of the invention includes a moisture management system for facilitating the removal of moisture that would otherwise accumulate between the affected body portion and the substantially rigid structure. The moisture management system includes a plurality of ventilation holes through the substantially rigid structure, and means for facilitating the transfer of moisture directly out through the ventilation holes to the atmosphere. The facilitating means can include a flexible support means disposed between the substantially rigid body portion, the support means either being porous, or the support means having a plurality of holes therethrough in alignment with the holes in the substantially rigid structure.

  • Publication number: 20090243391
Abstract: A multi-functional power supply that is advantageously suitable for distributed networking environments, such as the deployment of wireless networks. The power supply provides PoE ports for powering various devices and includes redundancy, back-up support, failover detection and monitoring/reporting. Thus, the power supply is particular well suited for a router or switch type environment that enables powered devices to be located in strategic locations without being limited by the provision of AC power outlets.

  • Publication number: 20080168469
Abstract: Including support for advanced protocols in propagation information transferred between applications. Transaction managers associated with the applications communicate with each other to complete a transaction. Rather than communicating using a standard protocol, embodiments of the invention enable a first transaction manager to identify advanced protocols supported by the first transaction manager to a second transaction manager using existing propagation tokens. The second transaction manager selects one of the supported protocols to communicate with the first transaction manager to complete the transaction.

  • Publication number: 20070213461
Abstract: A thermoplastic elastomer having adhesion to steels, where the thermoplastic elastomer includes a dynamically crosslinked rubber, from more than 2.0 to 10 parts of a metal oxide or salt, and from 10 to 200 parts by weight of a functionalized polyolefin having pendant polar functional groups, where the polar functional groups are present at a level of 0.5 to 3.5 mole percent of the total repeating units of said functionalized polyolefin and the functionalized polyolefin is derived from polymerizing at least one monoolefin to form a semicrystalline polymer or is derived from hydrogenating the polydiene blocks of a block copolymer, and where the parts by weight are based on 100 parts by weight of crosslinked rubber.

  • Publication number: 20070134497
Abstract: The invention described is a thermoplastic vulcanizate comprising dynamically-cured rubber, a functionalized thermoplastic polymer, and a functionalized hydrocarbon resin, which thermoplastic vulcanizate can be advantageously adhered to a polar substrate, for example by overmolding. In one or more embodiments of the present invention an article of commerce comprising: a) a polar substrate, and the b) a thermoplastic vulcanizate comprised of dynamically-cured rubber, a functionalized thermoplastic polymer, and a functionalized hydrocarbon resin; wherein said thermoplastic vulcanizate is adhered to the polar substrate is provided.

  • Publication number: 20060226051
Abstract: A potash ore processing method for the recovery of potassium minerals from potash ore can comprises conditioning a pulped potash ore, wherein the potash ore comprises a potassium chloride component and a clay component, in a saturated brine solution with an effective amount of brine dispersible urea-formaldehyde resin or modified brine dispersible urea-formaldehyde resin. In some embodiments, the processing method requires little or no frother and/or reduced amounts of flocculent while achieving potassium mineral recovery at least as good as the equivalent process without the urea-formaldehyde resin. In addition, the separation of clay waste from saturated brine for the reuse of the brine can be made more efficient through the use of urea-formaldehyde resin.

  • Publication number: 20040243505
Abstract: A system and method is provided to enable traders to price improve on an item at an amount less than a predetermined pricing increment. Traders can improve on the price of the item using different price improvement levels (e.g., four different levels). The price improvement according to the invention is a dynamic price improvement, which enables a dynamic order to maintain a predetermined position in a trading stack relative to other orders in the stack. The dynamic order may maintain its position in the trading stack by adjusting (e.g., increasing or decreasing) its price improvement level depending on market conditions. For example, a dynamic order may increases its price improvement level such that it stays at least one level ahead of the next best order in the trading stack. If the level cannot be further increased, the dynamic order may use its timestamp to maintain its position in the stack.

  • Patent number: 6776997
Abstract: A combination of a low flexural modulus and low crystallinity polyolefin and a functionalized polyolefin were found to result in an olefin composition with excellent adhesion to metals and polar polymers (e.g. polyesters, polyamides, etc) especially fibers therefrom. When these two polyolefins were added to a thermoplastic vulcanizate (e.g. used to partially or fully replace the semicrystalline polyolefin of a thermoplastic vulcanizate), the thermoplastic vulcanizate was found to have the necessary adhesion to form fiber reinforced thermoplastic vulcanizate.
