  • Patent number: 7943850
Abstract: An environmentally sealed wiring device with removable weather-resistant cover includes a wiring device with a device housing, a shoulder extending from the device housing and a sealing element disposed about the shoulder. The wiring device includes wires extending through one or more openings in the device housing. The openings are environmentally sealed around the wires to prevent moisture from entering the device. A weatherproof cover housing includes a pair of openings. The wiring device is positioned next to, and sometimes through, one of the openings. The sealing element is disposed between the weatherproof cover housing and the shoulder of the wiring device, providing a weatherproof seal therebetween, to prevent moisture from entering the device. A door is coupled to the weatherproof cover housing and can be rotated about an axis along an edge of the weatherproof cover housing between an open position and a closed position.

  • Patent number: 6979777
Abstract: A weatherproof electrical enclosure having a base and a cover pivotably connected to the base by movable hinge clips. The position of the hinge clips can be adjusted to allow the cover to be oriented to open horizontally or vertically without needing to remove or remount the enclosure. The cover has cable openings at the top and bottom that may be shielded by hoods and may also have a latch mechanism to keep the cover in the closed position. The enclosure may also include a cover plate having ribs that can be selectively removed to create different kinds of apertures that conform to different types of electrical fixtures. The cover plate may have recesses on two diagonally opposite corners and horizontally elongated mounting holes to make it easier to install, position and remove the cover plate from the base.

  • Patent number: 6818824
Abstract: A ganging tool for adjusting the position of a pair of ganged wiring devices such as duplex receptacles, toggle, and decorator type switches on a mounting, e.g., an electrical box. The ganging tool has a frame having a pair of apertures for receiving different kinds of wiring devices and holding them in place while the ganging tool adjusts the position of the wiring devices. The ganging tool also has rotatable toggle adaptors that allow the ganging tool to be used to position both toggle type wiring devices and non-toggle type wiring devices. The ganging tool further has a leveling means for determining the level of the wiring devices. Also, tool cutouts on the frame of the ganging tool allow the ganging tool to be used with power tools in conjunction with positioning and affixing wiring devices on a mounting.
