  • Publication number: 20070248139
Abstract: An optical assembly, such as a multiple output diode laser pump source for EDFAs, is formed by pressing an optical array emitter chip against a standoff structure protruding from a submount such that the emitter chip deforms to match the curvature of the standoff structure. An IO chip is also juxtaposed against the standoff structure such that its optical receivers can receive optical energy from the emitter chip. The IO chip can provide various optical functions, and then provide an optical array output for coupling into an optical fiber array. The standoff structure preferably contacts the emitter chip over an aggregate contact area much smaller than the area by which the emitter chip overlaps the submount. The materials used for bonding the emitter chip and the IO chip to the submount are disposed in the recesses between standoffs and not on the contact surfaces of the standoff structure.

  • Publication number: 20070239040
Abstract: An electronic blood pressure monitor includes an activation controller for exerting control in response to a signal representative of an instruction received from a user to selectively activate a plurality of functions included in first and second function groups of the electronic blood pressure monitor. The first function group includes a measurement function provided by a blood pressure measurement unit and the second function group includes an information changing function associated with erasing a measured value or changing a set value. The activation controller includes a determining unit for determining whether the electronic blood pressure monitor is started by a specific function, and a setting unit driven by a decision made by the determining unit to set the second function group in an activatable state or an inactivatable state.

  • Publication number: 20070022934
Abstract: A shallow water mooring system applies to offshore industry for oil and gas exploration, and production. This mooring system employs non-steel synthetic lines to provide the desired flexibility for shallow water mooring system applications. Piled submerged towers at seabed serve as elevated anchors to keep the whole synthetic mooring lines off the seabed under environmental loading conditions. Other buoyant means such as a buoy is also utilized to further help the synthetic mooring lines off the seabed during their service life.

  • Patent number: 6894723
Abstract: A ranking-based automatic dark compensation circuit for efficiently estimating dark level in a CCD or CMOS image sensor. The ranking circuit comprises of k staggered comparators, each comparator having an associated temporary result register. Each comparator having two inputs, with the first input coupled to an output of the previous stage comparator and the second input coupled to its associated temporary result register. The temporary results are initialized to the largest possible dark value. At each stage, a comparison is made of a new input sample to a stored value of the temporary register. If the new sample is greater than the value of the associated temporary register, the value in temporary register is not changed and the new sample is passed to the next comparator. Conversely, if the new sample is smaller, then that new sample is stored into the temporary register, while the original temporary result is passed to the next comparator.

  • Patent number: 6400004
Abstract: A leadless semiconductor package mainly comprises a semiconductor chip disposed on a die pad and electrically connected to a plurality of leads arranged around the die pad. There are a plurality of tie bars connected to the die pad. The lower surface of each lead has an indentation formed corresponding to one of the bottom edges of the package. The semiconductor chip, the leads and the tie bars are encapsulated in a package body wherein the lower surface of each lead is exposed from the bottom surface of the package except the indentation thereof.

  • Patent number: 6019286
Abstract: A portable data collection device is disclosed. The device includes an imaging assembly including a two dimensional (2D) photosensor array overlied by a RGB color filter. The imaging assembly is selectively actuatable with a first trigger for reading a dataform in the imaging assembly's target area and actuatable with a second trigger for capturing a color image of the target area. In one operating embodiment of the portable data collection device of the present invention, actuating the first trigger results in the imaging assembly capturing an image of the target area including a dataform and an associated image area of interest. The image area of interest is at a predetermined position with respect to the dataform. The imaging assembly decodes the dataform and outputs a compressed, digital representation of the image area of interest along with decoded data from the dataform.

  • Patent number: 6006990
Abstract: A imaging based dataform reader utilizes a method of compensating for image offset between consecutive image fields comprising an interlaced image frame. The method includes determination of a disparity vector corresponding to the direction and magnitude of the offset between portions of successive fields. The disparity vector is determined by trial matching feature recognition data for a template area of a second image field to feature recognition data for a reference area of a first image field. The second field feature recognition data is trial matched to first field data at a plurality of offsets typical of hand jittering. The offset position providing the best feature match between the first and second fields is used to derive a disparity vector. The disparity vector is then applied to provide enhanced decoding by use of first field image data and registration-corrected second field image data.

  • Patent number: 5959286
Abstract: A scanner has a window in its housing through which the scanning beam emerges to impinge upon an indicia to be read. The beam scans in a raster fashion over the window, and as it does so it impinges upon beam position indicating means which locate the position of the beam with respect to the scanner in at least certain portions of the scan pattern. Specifically, the beam position indicating means determines the position of the beam in a direction perpendicular to the overall scanning direction. In a preferred embodiment, the beam position indicating means may comprise one or more CCD's which provide electrical output signals dependent upon the position of the beam when it impinges upon them. Alternatively, the beam position indicating means may comprise passive code means such as a stacked series of bar code symbols. The location of the beam when it scans across the symbol can be determined by the unique pattern of reflections.
