Abstract: A wireless communication system for vehicle-based private and conference calling includes a wireless terminal that is configured to support bidirectional wireless audio communication with a vehicle-based user headset and a vehicle-based conference accessory. The wireless terminal operates as a switching node that is configured to support uninterrupted transfer of an already established first bidirectional wireless audio communication link from the headset to the conference accessory. This transfer may be made in response to a first command. The first bidirectional wireless audio communication link may be a spread spectrum, frequency hopping, full-duplex signal.

Abstract: A mobile communication device has data/fax capabilities to enable data/fax communications by a connected communication terminal. The mobile communication device includes a system interface that is used in a default mode to connect the phone to a phone accessory. The system interface is also used to connect a communication terminal to the phone for data/fax communications in a communication mode. The phone detects the presence of the communication terminal when a communication session is initiated by the communication terminal and automatically changes to a communication mode without user input.
