  • Patent number: 7936362
Abstract: A method is disclosed for spreading a non-periodic color signal sent to a spatial light modulator across a frame period. The method can include the operation of dividing a frame period into a plurality of time slices. A further operation can be assigning a color to each of the plurality time slices. Another operation can be interleaving one or more colors assigned to the time slices across the frame period in a non-periodic manner.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 30, 2004
Date of Patent: May 3, 2011
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company L.P.
Inventors: Matthew Gelhaus, Winthrop D. Childers, Art Piehl, Jim Przybyla, Adam Ghozeil, Eric T. Martin
  • Patent number: 7293879
Abstract: A projection screen for use in a projection system is described. In an embodiment of the present invention, a projection system includes a projector and a projection screen. The projector is configured to project an image composed of visible light in one or more ranges of wavelengths. The projection screen has a plurality of sub-pixels that reflect and/or transmit the one or more ranges of wavelengths to display the image and absorb visible wavelengths of light in at least one other range not included in the one or more ranges. One or more spaces are defined between adjacent sub-pixels that reflect and/or transmit the one or more ranges and the at least one other range.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: November 13, 2007
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Adam Ghozeil, Bjorn Warloe, Will Allen, Michael A. Pate, Jim Przybyla, Arthur R. Piehl, Nathan McPherson Moroney
  • Patent number: 7273282
Abstract: A projection system is disclosed that includes a light source, a spatial light modulator, and an optical filter. The light source is configured to generate a light beam having a spectral distribution spanning a set of primary colors. The spatial light modulator has an array of pixel elements. Each pixel element is configured to receive a portion of the light beam and to output a modulated light beam with a spectral peak defining one of the set of primary colors. The optical filter is configured to narrow the spectral peak.
