Another embodiment relates to a system configured to promote a computer, the system containing a docking mechanism configured to removably retain a peripheral; and a sensor connected to the docking mechanism and configured to determine when the peripheral is removed from the docking mechanism; wherein, when the sensor determines that the peripheral has been removed from the docking mechanism, the system promotes the computer to a running state.
