  • Publication number: 20160201417
Abstract: A method of improving the flow of fluids into or along a deviated wellbore that has a partial or complete obstruction caused by fill particles, comprising removing the fill particles from the obstruction and depositing the fill particles within the wellbore, uphole and/or downhole of the partial or complete obstruction. The method described herein removes obstructions and/or stimulates a well in which productivity has been impaired by the presence of fill in the wellbore. This is accomplished without removing the fill from the wellbore, and therefore avoids the consequent disposal or storage considerations.

  • Publication number: 20160096753
Abstract: In wellbore construction it has become environmentally and economically practical to treat flow back and produced water at the well site. Typically the flow back and produced water is initially contained in an open air pond. The water is then run to a treatment system to remove particulates and then deposited in a second clean pond. The water in the second clean pond may be allowed to sit in the pond for weeks before it is pumped out to be taken and disposed of or most likely to be used as a water source in the construction of a different well. Unfortunately even though the water may have initially been treated with the biocide due to the open environment to water is usually re-contaminated with both nutrients and both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria. The anaerobic bacteria usually include sulfur reducing bacteria which in turn produces hydrogen sulfide dissolved in the water.

  • Publication number: 20160069160
Abstract: Surfaces of well servicing equipment are treated with both a biofilm remover, which can be a mechanical or chemical, and a biocide composition. The biocide composition is designed to be effective to prevent regrowth of bacteria over a period of time in which the equipment is expected to be out of service. Further, the biocide is compatible with the water source available on site for preparation of the biocide composition. The biofilm remover and the biocide composition can be applied or mixed together as a single treatment, if compatible. The biocide is maintained within the equipment or is displaced therefrom, such as with nitrogen and residual biocide composition is effective therein to prevent regrowth. Nitrogen can be maintained within the equipment until put back into service.

  • Patent number: 7956017
Abstract: A method for treating solid materials is disclosed, where the treating compositions coats surfaces or portions of surfaces of the solid materials changing an aggregation or agglomeration propensity of the materials. Treated solid materials are also disclosed. The methods and treated materials are ideally suited for oil field applications.

  • Patent number: 7712535
Abstract: A fluid breaking composition which includes an effective amount of an alkali chlorite and/or hyperchlorite, where the composition reduces a viscosity of a polymer viscosified fluid to a desired low value at down hole conditions within a time period coincident with a formation stimulation time, generally between about 30 minutes and 195 minutes and to methods for making and using the breaking composition.

  • Patent number: 7182136
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of stimulating a subterranean formation penetrated by a well. The formation has a water-bearing section and a hydrocarbon-bearing section. The method includes the steps of: (a) introducing into the formation an aqueous treatment fluid containing a hydrophobically-modified relative permeability modifier, and (b) introducing an acidizing treatment fluid into the formation. The hydrophobically-modified RPM can be formed and introduced into the formation in several ways. For example, the hydrophobically-modified RPM can be the reaction product of a hydrophilic polymer and a hydrophobic compound that are capable of reacting with each other. The hydrophilic polymer is a polymer containing reactive amino groups in the polymer backbone or as pendant groups, which are capable of reacting with a hydrophobic alkyl halide compound.

  • Patent number: 5857521
Abstract: A retrievable screen apparatus provides increased filtration in a retrievable screen disposed within a receptacle, the receptacle being positioned in a subterranean well. The receptacle has a lower filtration screen attached thereto for filtering larger particles, such as gravel and proppant, from fluid flow within the well. Thus, the retrievable screen may be retrieved and replaced, leaving the receptacle operatively positioned in the well.
