  • Publication number: 20050180567
Abstract: A method and system for controlling the use of unauthorized content, and specifically for controlling the display of content that is marked as “copy-never.” A compliant signal source transmits a video signal along with a secure timestamp to a compliant display device. The compliant display device determines whether the video signal is authorized to be displayed by determining the content management usage rights status in the video signal and the delay between when the video signal was transmitted and when it was received. In an embodiment of the invention, copy-never content that exceeds a defined delay between transmission and reception is prevented from being displayed.

  • Publication number: 20050124319
Abstract: A method and system for controlling distribution of content within a personal domain that makes use of a determination of the relative proximity to a source device or the geographic locations of the receiving devices. The location information may be determined using a Global Positioning System (GPS) or wireless triangulation systems. Usage rights for devices in the network are determined using the location or proximity determination.

  • Publication number: 20040116177
Abstract: A gaming table in which the outcome of the game is determined manually, and in which players place bets electronically and wins or losses are calculated electronically. The gaming system is applicable to any suitable game including roulette.

  • Publication number: 20040105626
Abstract: A module for coupling to a fiber-optic cable includes an optoelectronic assembly that includes a bracket and a metal receptacle. The metal receptacle includes an attachment member operable to releasably connect the receptacle to the bracket, an alignment end operable to receive an alignment device, and a connector end operable to releasably connect to the fiber-optic cable and to orient the cable with the alignment device. The metal receptacle can suppress EMI and can typically withstand higher temperatures than most plastic materials. Thus, when subject to high temperatures, the receptacle typically will not expel gas that can fog a lens or deform. The attachment member allows one to releasably connect the receptacle to an optoelectronic assembly without fixing the receptacle to the assembly with adhesive. Thus, the receptacle can be mounted to an optoelectronic assembly quickly and without an alignment fixture.

  • Patent number: 5530837
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for interleaving memory transactions into an arbitrary number of memory banks that need not be equal size. A memory address range is divided into subranges of contiguous addresses. A first embodiment associates the subranges to a unique set of banks. Memory transactions falling within a subrange are interleaved among banks associated with the subrange. A second embodiment associates a set of banks with each subrange. The set of banks of one subrange are not necessarily independent of the set of banks of a second subrange. A third embodiment is a hybrid of the first and second embodiment. Range detection mechanisms are provided for detecting if a memory transaction falls within a subrange. In addition, an ID number is produced from the memory address according to an interleaving algorithm. The ID number is compared to bank ID numbers associated with each of the banks.

  • Patent number: 5214567
Abstract: A computer subassembly that includes a pair of disk drives each attached to an end of a module. The module has a printed circuit board that couples the disk drives to a single connector extending from the subassembly. The connector can be plugged into a mating connector within the computer, which provides power and allows the transmission of digital signals between the disk drives and the computer. The disk drives can be electrically and structurally coupled to the computer by merely plugging the module connector into the computer connector.
