    Abstract: A system for gait training which includes a slidable assembly for attaching to the foot with or without a shoe, on the affected side of a subject. When the subject shifts his or her body weight away from the affected side, the slidable assembly is capable of forward and backward movement to follow the swinging movement of the leg. When the subject shifts their body weight to the affected side and thereby applies weight to his or her swinging leg and the slidable assembly, a passive braking system is automatically actuated arrests any further movement of the affected limb.
