  • Patent number: 12003407
Abstract: A first network node is arranged to communicate with a second network node. The first and second network nodes are connected by a first path and a second path. The first path uses a first communications network and the second path uses a second communications network. The first network node has a first mode and a second mode of operation, such that in a first mode traffic between the first and second network nodes is transmitted over the first path and not the second path, and in a second mode traffic between the first and second network nodes is transmitted over the first path and the second path. The network node comprises a mode selector arranged to select the second mode of operation when the demanded amount of traffic between the first and second network nodes exceeds a threshold value for a period of time.

  • Publication number: 20240173157
Abstract: An orthopaedic device, a kit comprising said device, and a method. The orthopaedic device comprises a support plate, a piece of fabric. The support plate is malleable into an orthopaedically supporting shape, the support plate having a supporting surface to be arranged towards an object to be supported and an opposite distal surface. The supporting surface of the support plate is adhered to a receiving zone of the piece of fabric, such that the distal surface of the support plate constitutes a part of the distal surface of the device. The piece of fabric is larger than the support plate, providing thus an attachment zone for fastening the orthopaedic device.

  • Patent number: 11992990
Abstract: This invention generally relates to polyethylene or ethylene/?-olefin copolymer based co-extruded, multi-layer films or sheets—rigid or flexible—for thermoforming into shaped containers such as packaging containers. Inter alia, the rigid films have improved barrier properties, toughness, and snapability. Particularly, the films of the present invention comprise one or more stacks of polypropylene layers. In one embodiment, the polypropylene layers in the stack are provided such that any two adjacent layers have different microstructures that provide a interface or interphase between the two layers with likely different microstructures and/or crystallinity. The overall polypropylene stack structure assists in disrupting the transport of oxygen, thereby providing a laminate or structure, for example a rigid film or sheet, with enhanced oxygen-barrier properties.

  • Patent number: 11992016
Abstract: This pinching-shaping device includes cylindrical tools, each having a central axis of tool rotation, the central axes being parallel and the outer peripheries of the tools applied tangentially against one another to pinch-shape a strand tangentially introduced between the tools during rotation. The outer periphery of each tool has radially projecting blades distributed around the central axis, each providing a pinching surface. The pinching surface extends between first and second ends inclined to the central axis. The blades of each tool are distributed following the outer periphery, alternating inclination. When a blade of the first tool is radially interposed between the two tools during the rotation, it is radially aligned with one of the blades of the second tool, the pinching surface inclined in a complementary manner to the pinching surface of first tool's blade, pinching the strand between pinching surfaces of these two aligned blades.

  • Publication number: 20240165868
Abstract: Methods of manufacturing multi-material fibers having one or more electrically-connectable devices disposed therein are described. In certain instances, the methods include the steps of: positioning the electrically-connectable device(s) within a corresponding pocket provided in a preform material; positioning a first electrical conductor longitudinally within a first conduit provided in the preform material; and drawing the multi-material fiber by causing the preform material to flow, such that the first electrical conductor extends within the multi-material fiber along a longitudinal axis thereof and makes an electrical contact with a first electrode located on each electrically-connectable device. A metallurgical bond may be formed between the first electrical conductor and the first electrode while drawing the multi-material fiber and/or, after drawing the multi-material fiber, the first electrical conductor may be located substantially along a neutral axis of the multi-material fiber.

  • Publication number: 20240168149
Abstract: Techniques and apparatuses are described that implement localization and health monitoring. With the use of multiple backscatter tags, a reader can be implemented with a single antenna and have a relatively small footprint compared to other systems that utilize antenna arrays or multiple readers. Also, the backscatter tags can be implemented as passive devices and located at fixed positions. In this way, a single power source can be provided at the reader, and target angular resolutions can be realized without the additional mechanical complexities associated with other moving systems. Additionally, the backscatter tags can be implemented using relatively low-cost commercial off-the-shelf hardware. As such, performance of the reader can be readily customized with the purchase of additional backscatter tags.

  • Publication number: 20240171579
Abstract: An example method is performed by one or more processors of a gateway computing system. The method includes receiving, from a user computing system, a request to access a software application hosted on a server with which the gateway computing system is in communication. The method also includes in response to receiving the request, communicating with the user computing system to obtain a credential for the software application issued to a user of the user computing system. The method also includes comparing the credential to credential data stored on a distributed ledger to determine whether the credential meets a set of conditions. The method also includes in response to determining that the credential meets the set of conditions, establishing an authorized session between the user computing system and the server such that communication between the user computing system and the server passes through the gateway computing system.

  • Patent number: 11987241
Abstract: An autonomous vehicle and a system and method for operating the autonomous vehicle. The system includes a sensor and a processor. A disturbance force or yaw moment is received on the autonomous vehicle. The sensor measures a position of the autonomous vehicle within a lane of a road with respect to road boundaries and lane markings. The processor is configured to resist an effect of a disturbance force or yaw moment received on the autonomous vehicle. The processor minimizes a tracking error between a path of the autonomous vehicle and an initial track lane, wherein resisting the effect creates an inflection point in the path of the autonomous vehicle, establishes a final track lane at a closer of a lateral position of the inflection point and a lane center to the initial track lane, and tracks the path to the final track lane.

  • Patent number: 11989669
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems, non-transitory computer-readable media, and methods for intelligently determining to assess (or not assess) a cancellation penalty and notifying a requestor device of such a penalty in response to either a requestor's selection to cancel a single transportation request for a requestor or a requestor's selection to cancel a shared-transportation request associated with multiple requestors. For example, the disclosed systems can generate conversion probabilities for a requestor reflecting if a cancellation penalty is assessed—and if the cancellation penalty is not assessed—for a cancellation of a transportation request for transport of a lone requestor. Based on the conversion probabilities, the disclosed systems customize a cancellation notice for a requestor device to either include or exclude the cancellation penalty.

  • Patent number: 11990839
Abstract: A power converter can include first, second, third, and fourth switches, and a driver for operating the drive switches to modify an input voltage and provide an output voltage. An AC coupling capacitor can be coupled between the first and fourth switches. The first, second, third, and fourth switches can control current through two inductors. The power converter can have a fifth switch, which can provide a discharge path for discharging the first inductor, the second inductor, and/or the capacitor. Another capacitor can be between the fifth switch and ground. The power converter can provide an output voltage that is at least about ? of the input voltage. The power converter can include resonance circuitry, such as a third inductor, for soft switching the fifth switch.
