  • Publication number: 20090021078
Abstract: Apparatus and associated method and computer program products involve a highly efficient uninterruptible power distribution architecture to support modular processing units. As an illustrative example, a modular processing unit includes an integrated uninterruptible power system in which a PFC-boost AC-to-DC conversion occurs between the utility AC grid and the processing circuit (e.g., microprocessor) loads. In an illustrative data center facility, a power distribution architecture includes a modular array of rack-mountable processing units, each of which has processing circuitry to handle network-related processing tasks. Associated with each modular processing unit is an integrated uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to supply operating power to the network processing circuitry. Each UPS includes a battery selectively connectable across a DC bus, and a AC-to-DC rectifier that converts an AC input voltage to a single output voltage on the DC bus.

  • Publication number: 20090019082
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for managing objects in accordance with the Common Information Model. A CIMOM installation utility identifies directory services that are coupled to or included within the network or computing environment. Once identified, the directory services are extended to include an additional managed object of the Common Information Model. After the schema of the directory service is extended, the managed object is created in at least one of the directory services. Following these steps, a client of the network is able to execute a discovery process to locate the directory services and managed objects of the directory services, thereby allowing the client to communicate with the managed objects of the directory services, including the managed object that was added as part of the extension of the schema of one or more of the directory services.

  • Patent number: 7476349
Abstract: An open mold system provides various unique molds which are released from a plurality of staging queues and loaded onto a mold transportation circuit in relation to a particular customer order and transportation vehicle. A batch of molds are sequenced in an order in which a particular transportation vehicle is to be loaded. After each part is demolded, the molds are returned to their appropriate staging queues or storage areas. The parts are inspected and are sent to either a minor repair area, a major repair area, or directly to a trimming and packaging area. From the packaging area, the parts are moved to a relatively small shipping area where the batch of parts are already ordered to be effectively loaded directly onto the transportation vehicle. As the finished parts come off line in the batch particular to the transportation vehicle, a large shipping area and inventory area is avoided.

  • Publication number: 20090011543
Abstract: An improved Wafer-Level Chip-Scale Packaging (WLCSP) process is described that includes forming a plurality of conductive pillars on a first surface of a semiconductor wafer. One or more grooves are dry etched into the first surface of the semiconductor wafer, where the grooves define at least one boundary between each of a plurality of die within the semiconductor wafer. A layer of encapsulating material is deposited over the first surface. A recess is then cut in each of the grooves through the encapsulating material, where the cutting leaves a piece of semiconductor material on the second surface of the semiconductor wafer.
