  • Publication number: 20240181293
Abstract: A monitoring arrangement for use with an exercise device. The monitoring arrangement includes an inertial measurement device that detects an exercise activity of the exercise device and an activity measurement device having an active mode and a disabled mode. The activity measurement device is operable to quantify the exercise activity of the exercise device when in the active mode, where the activity measurement device uses less power when in the disabled mode than in the active mode. A control unit is configured to detect, via the inertial measurement device, a start of the exercise activity, to cause the activity measurement device to operate in the active mode upon detecting the start of the exercise activity, and to operate the activity measurement device to generate measurement data that represents the exercise activity when in the active mode. The activity measurement device is defaulted to the disabled mode to save power.

  • Publication number: 20230310937
Abstract: A monitoring arrangement for an exercise device generates data items representing exercise activity by a user, performs a connection process for establishment of an end-to-end connection to a user device, broadcasts progress data that represents data items generated during the connection process, and sequentially transmits, on the end-to-end connection data items, generated after establishment of the end-to-end connection. The user device receives the progress data and presents, during the connection process, progress of the exercise activity based on the progress data. After establishment of the end-to-end connection, the user device presents progress of the exercise activity based on data items received on the end-to-end connection. The combination of broadcasting and sequential transmission obviates the need for the user to wait for the end-to-end connection before starting exercise activity.

  • Publication number: 20220014892
Abstract: An electronic tag, which may be used in a data management system, comprises a Bluetooth transmitter and an RFID transmitter. The Bluetooth transmitter is operable to transmit first data packets. The RFID transmitter is operable to transmit second data packets. The first data packets comprise a first identifier, ID1, and the second data packets comprise a second identifier, ID2, which is different from ID1. A portable electronic device is configured to, upon receiving one of the first data packets by a Bluetooth receiver, selectively activate an RFID receiver for the second data packets, thereby enabling transfer of ID2 from the electronic tag irrespective of the data transfer capacity of the first data packets.
