  • Patent number: 6833464
Abstract: A composition of matter comprising a compound having the general formula: [CpM(ArF)Y]p wherein Cp is a substituted or unsubstituted cyclopentadienyl ligand or cyclopentadienyl-type bulky ligand characterized by one or more open, acylic or fused ring systems comprised of atoms selected from Groups 13-16 of the Periodic Table of Elements and wherein the ligands can include a heteroatom; M is a metal selected from Groups 3-9 of the Periodic Table of Elements; ArF is a fluorinated aryl group; Y is a hydrocarbyl group that can contain a heteroatom; and p is 1 or 2. The invention also contemplates a method of producing the compound and its use in the oligomerization and polymerization of alpha olefins.

  • Patent number: 6312619
Abstract: A method of enhancing the dispersibility of alpha-alumina monohydrate wherein there is formed a mixture of an alpha-alumnina monohydrate, water, and a dispersibility enhancer comprising an effective amount of a monobasic acid, a salt selected from the group consisting of salts having the formula MX wherein M is a polyvalent metal cation constituent for which the solubility product KSP of the corresponding metal hydroxide is less than 10−20 and wherein X is an anion constituent derived from a monovalent acid having an ionization constant KA greater than 10+1 and certain phosphorus and antimony chlorides, followed by drying the mixture, without aging, to produce a dried, alpha-alumina monohydrate having advanced water dispersibility.

  • Patent number: 5345224
Abstract: A leak detection and management apparatus including a programmable message device, for a hot water heater. The apparatus includes a liquid pan disposed beneath and concentrically with a hot water heater for collecting water leaking from the hot water heater. A float is disposed at least partially within the liquid pan 14 and causes an electrical shut-off signal from an electrical switch to be generated when it is elevated in response to the collection of water within the liquid pan 14. The electrical shut-off signal causes electrically controlled solenoid valves disposed in the water supply and gas lines to the hot water heater 12 to be closed, thereby interrupting the flow of cold water and natural gas into the hot water heater 12, and simultaneously causing a programmable message device to play a prerecorded message informing of the water leak and where to obtain service to correct same.
