Abstract: A computer system receives information from multimedia devices for generating a playlist. The information is associated with a status of segment files of a first publishing stream and a second publishing stream received from the multimedia devices, and the information is determined to trigger a failover event. Segment files are obtained from the first publishing stream and the second publishing stream to generate a playlist based on the status of the segment files.

Abstract: A trigger involving a first media stream is detected, wherein the first media stream corresponds to a first playlist comprising a first sequence of references, the first sequence of references corresponds to respective segments of the first media stream, and the first playlist has an identifier usable to obtain a copy of the first playlist. In response to detection of the trigger, a second playlist that comprises a second sequence of references is determined, wherein the second sequence of references switches from a first reference corresponding to a segment of the first media stream to a second reference corresponding to a segment of the second media stream, the identifier is re-associated to the second playlist.

Abstract: A computer system receives two publishing streams from two multimedia recording devices for generating a playlist for streaming a live event. An ingest endpoint transcodes the publishing stream input into multimedia segments and uploads the multimedia segments to a data storage service. The multimedia segments from both publishing streams are evaluated to determine whether a failover event occurred that requires failing-over from a first publishing stream to a second publishing stream in order to generate the playlist. A playlist is generated, based on the evaluated multimedia segments, and includes Uniform Resource Identifiers for each multimedia segment of the live event. By using dynamic, on-demand playlist generation for input received on two publishing streams, the system is able to provide failover capabilities from a first stream to a second stream without the need for customer or viewer action.
