  • Patent number: 5580841
Abstract: Disclosed are solid, phytoactive, N-phosphonomethyl-N-carboxymethyl compositions. Also disclosed are processes for the preparation of such compositions by(a) forming an initial mixture comprising a phytoactive N-phosphonomethyl-N-carboxymethyl compound, a solvent and a molten surfactant, the surfactant being solid at ambient temperatures;(b) removing solvent from the initial mixture to form a final mixture at a temperature above the melting point of the surfactant;(c) cooling the final mixture to a temperature below the melting point of the surfactant to form a N-phosphonomethyl-N-carboxymethyl composition which is solid at ambient temperatures; and(d) processing said composition into particulate form, such as pellets, flakes, granules, or powders.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 28, 1994
Date of Patent: December 3, 1996
    Assignee: Zeneca Limited
Inventors: Jimmy H. Chan, Roger R. Djafar
  • Patent number: 5468718
Abstract: A liquid phytoactive composition comprising (a) an N-phosphonomethyl-N -carboxymethyl compound; (b) one or more liquid surfactants; (c) a dispersing medium for said N-phosphonomethyl-N-carboxymethyl compound; and (d) inert adjuvants therefor.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 13, 1995
Date of Patent: November 21, 1995
    Assignee: ICI Americas Inc.
Inventors: Jan Burval, Jimmy H. Chan
  • Patent number: 5464623
Abstract: Insecticidal pellet compositions of N-hydrocarboyl phosphoroamidothioates and phosphoroamidodithioates are provided. These compositions have improved odor control, thermal stability, attrition resistance, bulk density and handling characteristics over the powdered forms of the insecticides. Methods are provided for making such pellets, and in particular, an extrusion method is provided in which the dry insecticidal composition is mixed with from 3-25% of a solvent to form a consistency of damp sandy loam and then extruded.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 18, 1989
Date of Patent: November 7, 1995
    Assignee: Chevron Research Company
Inventors: Jimmy H. Chan, Rodrick I. Satre, James H. Trusler, Sadanand G. Memula

  • Patent number: 4128580
Abstract: 1,3-dichloroacetone oxime is prepared from 1,3-dichloropropanone by reaction with a hydroxylamine salt in a strongly acidic medium in the presence of a base selected from the group consisting of tertiary amines, lower alkyl amides, alkali metal bicarbonates, alkali metal carbonates and alkaline earth metal carbonates. 1,3-dichloroacetone oxime acetate is advantageously prepared by reaction of the oxime with acetic anhydride. The acetate is obtained in high purity.

    Assignee: Stauffer Chemical Company
Inventors: Kent E. Matsumoto, Jimmy H. Chan, Don R. Baker
  • Patent number: 4045471
Abstract: N-carbamoyl ethyl oxanilates having the formula ##STR1## wherein X and Y are independently selected from the group consisting of chloro, bromo and trifluoromethyl; n is either zero or one; and R and R.sub.1 are independently selected from the group consisting of lower alkyl and lower alkoxy from C.sub.1 to C.sub.3 inclusive, or R and R.sub.1 taken together is selected from the group consisting of ##STR2## are prepared by a process comprising reacting a urea having the formula ##STR3## with ethyl oxalyl halide in a single step in an inert solvent.
