  • Patent number: 11542810
Abstract: A downhole tool for determining laterals in a borehole wall or a borehole casing, comprising a tool housing extending along a longitudinal axis and having a circumference perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and a plurality of sonic transceivers. Each sonic transceiver transmitting sonic signals from the housing and receiving sonic signals reflected from the borehole wall or borehole casing in a predefined angular segment. The sonic transceivers are arranged along the circumference of the tool housing having a mutual distance and are capable of transmitting sonic signals radially away from the tool housing in an entire central angle of 360 degrees towards the borehole wall or borehole casing. During a pulse time, one sonic transceiver transmits a sonic signal in the predefined angular segment of that sonic transmitter, and one sonic transceiver, during a subsequent echo time, receives a reflected sonic signal from the borehole wall or borehole casing.

  • Patent number: 9915143
Abstract: A downhole tool may include a tool housing extending along a longitudinal axis and having a circumference which is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, the tool housing being adapted to be lowered into the inside of the borehole or borehole casing. The downhole tool may include a longitudinal transducer for transmitting a probing signal longitudinally from an end part of the tool housing into a fluid flowing in said borehole or borehole casing and for receiving a reflected signal reflected from reflective entrained surfaces in the fluid flowing along a longitudinal direction towards the end part of the tool housing. The downhole tool may include a plurality of electrodes arranged spaced apart around the longitudinal axis in the periphery of the downhole tool so that the fluid flows between the electrodes and a borehole wall or borehole casing wall.

  • Patent number: 8823379
Abstract: The invention relates to a logging tool (1) for determining properties of a fluid (2) surrounding the tool arranged downhole in a casing (3) comprising a wall (4) and having a longitudinal extension. The logging tool has a substantially longitudinal cylindrical shape with a longitudinal axis and, when seen in cross-section, a periphery (5). Moreover, the logging tool comprises a plurality of electrodes (6) arranged spaced around the longitudinal axis in the periphery of the tool so that the fluid flows between the electrodes and the casing wall and a means for measuring the capacitance between two electrodes in all possible combinations giving n*(n?1)/2 capacitance measurements for n electrodes.
