Abstract: A modular rack-level server and storage framework is disclosed. The modular rack system includes a plurality of chassis placed in one or more racks and a plurality of sleds placed in each chassis. Each sled includes an information handling system, a shared fan module, a shared power module, and a shared management module. The shared fan module cools the plurality of sleds in each chassis and the shared power module supplies power to one or more sleds in one or more chassis. The shared management module manages the operation of the plurality of chassis.

Abstract: A stand-alone immersion tank datacenter (SITDC) includes: a multi-phase heat transfer immersion cooling tank having external walls surrounding a tank volume within which a dielectric liquid is maintained and heated to a boiling point temperature; a plurality of servers having one or more processing and memory components submerged within the dielectric liquid for cooling of the one or more components via heat dissipation from the one or more components into the dielectric liquid when the one or more components are connected to an electric power supply; and a condenser located vertically above the plurality of servers and in a direct path of rising dielectric vapor created when the dielectric liquid absorbs sufficient heat from the one or more components to reach a boiling point temperature of the liquid. The condenser can be a passive heat exchanger, created by providing a heat conductive material as a top lid of the tank.

The multifunction modules further include a processing node interface, a first endpoint coupled to the management controller interface, a second endpoint coupled to one of the plurality of network switching interfaces, a third endpoint coupled to a remote direct memory access (RDMA) block, a fourth endpoint coupled to the storage interface, and a fifth endpoint coupled to the component controller interface.

A method for operating a search engine may include calculating a plurality of document vectors, receiving a search request, calculating a search request vector, calculating a distance between the search request vector and the plurality of document vectors, and returning a list of documents that are within a predetermined distance of the search request vector. An information handling system for a search engine may include a central processing unit that is coupled to a general purpose graphical processing unit. The central processing unit is able to calculate a plurality of document vectors, receive a search request, calculate a search vector, and return a list of documents that are within a predetermined distance of the search request vector. The general purpose graphical processing unit is able to calculate a distance between the search request vector and the plurality of document vectors.

Abstract: A system and method for minimizing the effects of non-uniform dielectric properties includes forming traces on printed circuit boards (PCB) where the fibers within the printed circuit boards are non-rectangular with respect to the rectangular edges of the circuit board. The orientation of the traces with respect to the fibers substantially minimizes the effects of non-uniform dielectric properties of the PCB.

Abstract: A methodology may be used that takes into account the inductive coupling of current transients on the power rails of a printed circuit board (PCB) that may be coupled to the barrel of a via. By taking into account the coupling of the current transients on the power rails of the PCB, more accurate and realistic modeling results may be obtained. Inductive coupling of the current transients from the power rails may be more pronounced at higher frequencies and may be additive for more layer transitions (e.g., more via transitions) of the PCB.

Abstract: A rotatable fan system and method is disclosed in which an array of paired fans is included as part of an information handling system. The array of paired fans can be rotated so that the interior fan becomes the exterior fan. The array includes an electrical switch for reversing the rotational direction of the blades of the paired fans following the rotation of the fan array.

Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for initializing PCI devices in a computer system or information handling system. Upon initialization of the system, each operating system instance of the system attempts to access a PCI bridge device. The first operating system to access the bridge device is granted ownership of the bridge device and the authority to initialize each PCI device coupled to the bridge device. The bridge device assigns each operating system to at least one context included in at least one of the PCI devices. After each of the PCI devices has been initialized, a configuration event is issued with respect to each operating system instance and each assigned PCI device, thereby causing each operating system to recognize each PCI device assigned to each respective operating system instance.

The shareable PCI Express switch assigns a context value that identifies a particular modular information handling system component within the Transaction ID field of each PCI Express packet received from the connected modular information handling system component.

Abstract: A system and method for hardware partitioning of an information handling system. The partitioning is through the CPU, memory, and I/O systems. This is accomplished by providing multiple contexts for each I/O device (one for each partition), and by using the transaction ID field of the PCI Express bus packet header to map an I/O device to a context.

Abstract: Plural processing subsystems of an information handling system, such as plural blades of a blade server, communicate through a base protocol, such as PCI Express, to a peripheral communication device with each processing subsystem interfaced through a port of the peripheral communication device. An encapsulation module of the peripheral communication device encapsulates the base protocol in an advanced switching packet, such as a packet formed with the PCI Express Advanced Switching protocol. A routing module of the peripheral communication device routes the packets through a bus, such as a blade server backplane bus, for use of the information by a selected peripheral. Peripherals communicate with selected processing subsystems by sending advanced switching packets to the routing module for the encapsulation module to extract the peripheral information from the packets and send the peripheral information to the port associated with the selected processing subsystem.
