  • Patent number: 8704608
Abstract: A circulator/isolator assembly is disclosed. The assembly includes a first magnetic substrate having first surface and a second surface and a first ground plane formed on the first surface. A dielectric layer is disposed adjacent first magnetic substrate. The dielectric layer includes a multi-port junction circuit coupled to transmission traces. One of the traces forms an input port and another forms an output port. A first magnet is disposed proximate the multi-port junction circuit of the dielectric layer. The first magnet excites a circular, unidirectional magnetic flux field in the first magnetic substrate that limits electromagnetic wave propagation to a single direction.

  • Patent number: 8523553
Abstract: An apparatus and methods for forming a composite part are provided. A method for forming a composite part may include placing initial composite material on a base tool, placing a tooling mandrel on the composite material, placing additional composite material over the tooling mandrel, covering at least a portion of the composite material that overlays the tooling mandrel with a composite forming tool, heating the composite material to at least partially cure the composite material, and permitting a first portion of the composite forming tool to change size during the heating of the composite material to a greater degree than a second portion of the composite forming tool. In this regard, the second portion of the composite forming tool is closer to the base tool than the first portion of the composite forming tool. A composite forming tool is provided that permits differential expansion of different portions of the tool.

  • Patent number: 7898265
Abstract: A microwave paint thickness sensor includes a single cylindrical cavity, a microwave source, and a signal detector. The cylindrical cavity is open at one end, the open end having a choke joint for interfacing with a painted surface. The cylindrical cavity is designed so that the electronic field is normal to the painted surface. In a preferred embodiment, this is accomplished by providing an optimally designed TM011 mode cavity. In this configuration, the resonant frequency of the cavity is linearly related to the inverse of the paint thickness. In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, the resonant cavity is optimally sized to resonate at a frequency where the sensor footprint can be minimized. Thus with the use of the choke joint, the small sensor interface area of the present invention may easily be applied to a curved surface.

  • Patent number: 7889135
Abstract: An antenna array core comprising a plurality of microwave modules, a control layer, a mounting layer, and a signal distribution layer. The control layer is capable of distributing control signals to the plurality of microwave modules. The plurality of microwave modules are attached to an upper surface of the mounting layer and the mounting layer is made from a heat conductive material capable of cooling the plurality of microwave modules. The signal distribution layer is located below the mounting layer, wherein the signal distribution layer is capable of transmitting microwave signals to the plurality of microwave modules and wherein the arrangement of the plurality of microwave modules on the mounting layer, the control layer, and the wave distribution network form a layered architecture for the antenna core. The architecture is a balance between, size, thermal control, manufacturability, cost, and performance so as to be a unique solution.

  • Patent number: 7626985
Abstract: A method of replicating multicast datagrams in a network device is disclosed. The method includes the steps of determining by a memory management unit whether a scheduled outgoing datagram stored in a main memory is a multicast (MC) packet. When the scheduled outgoing datagram type is the MC datagram, the method also includes performing a lookup of a replicate count table to determine a copy count value and writing the copy count value to a copy count register, awaiting a ready signal from an egress port of the network switch and sending the outgoing datagram to the egress port from the main memory along with the copy count value. The method also includes changing the copy count value in the copy count register, modifying a VLAN identifier of the outgoing datagram if necessary based on the copy count value and forwarding the outgoing datagram from the egress port.

  • Patent number: 7617706
Abstract: A lock assembly for an industrial computer to be locked and unlocked to a supporting frame set includes an insertion hole arranged on each of the two lateral sides of supporting frame set, a lock device arranged on a panel of the industrial computer, a push block formed to the lock device, and two insertion rods which are capable of pushing and being pushed by the push block. When the lock device is unlocked, the push ends of the insertion rods will elastic push the short axis end of the push block so as the insertion buckle ends will leave the insertion holes of the supporting frame set, and then the industrial computer is unlocked. While the lock device is locked, the push ends of the insertion rods will elastically push the long axis side of the push block so that the insertion buckle end will insert into the insertion hole of the supporting frame set.

  • Patent number: 7533948
Abstract: An adjustable shelf system for food equipment includes at least two front brackets, each having a base and a support member extending from the base. The support member has an outer edge and a series of vertically spaced notches. The front brackets are mounted such that the notched support surfaces extend substantially toward each other in a direction generally parallel with a vertical plane that intersects both of the front brackets. A shelf is supported by the front brackets, with extensions extending outwardly from the sides of the shelf. The front of the shelf can be lifted, allowing the shelf to be moved laterally to a position in which the back of the shelf is no longer supported by back support surfaces and the extensions are clear of the notches in the front brackets, thereby allowing the shelf to be moved vertically to a different height while being held horizontal.

  • Patent number: 7495521
Abstract: A multi-channel circulator or isolator well suited for use in phased array antennas or other RF devices where space and packaging constraints make the implementation of a conventional circular or isolator difficult or impossible. The multi-channel circulator/isolator can be configured as an isolator by the inclusion of one or more load resistors at one of its ports. In various configurations two or more ferrite substrates are provided that each provide a plurality of transmission ports. One or more permanent magnets are used to simultaneously provide the magnetic flux field through both of the substrates. The substrates can be configured such that they are spaced apart by a small distance, or positioned face to face in contact with one another. One or a plurality of magnets can be used depending upon RF requirements. Each substrate forms an independent electromagnetic wave propagation channel that limits the propagation of RF energy between its ports in one direction only.

  • Patent number: 7437546
Abstract: Embodiments of a multi-processor platform including multiple, cooperating operating systems are described. Multiple operating systems, each of which may be of a different type or nature, run on different partitions of the multi-processor platform, yet coexist and cooperate. In various embodiments, different specialized operating systems, suitable for particular tasks, run on different partitions of the platform. In one embodiment, a host operating system, using a driver, boots and partitions a portion of the platform running other operating systems, and then communicates with, and shares work with, the other operating systems. In one embodiment, the multi-processor platform includes a host operating system and multiple specialized operating systems, such as real-time operating systems, operating alongside the host operating system. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
