  • Patent number: 10086219
Abstract: Apparatus and associated methods relate to an automatic fluid alarm that provides a fluid-communication path between a secondary fluid source and a whistle port when a primary fluid source experiences a reduction in pressure, the automatic fluid alarm being user resettable by disconnecting the primary fluid source or otherwise reducing the primary source pressure and activating a reset member, thereby interrupting the fluid-communication path. In some examples, a piston member may provide a movable seal for providing the fluid-communication path and its interruption. An exemplary piston member may be slidably reset in a non-interrupting mode by an adequate primary fluid pressure, and slidably set in an interrupting mode by a user activation. The interrupting mode may silence the whistle which may facilitate user communication during what may be a stressful primary fluid source failure event. Some exemplary automatic fluid alarms may conserve secondary fluid when the whistle is silenced.

  • Publication number: 20140345604
Abstract: A self-contained breathing apparatus. The self-contained breathing apparatus comprises a back plate comprising a shoulder strap load portion and a waist belt load portion, wherein the waist belt load portion rotates about an extended axis defined by the junction of the waist belt load portion with the shoulder strap load portion, a shoulder strap coupled to the shoulder strap load portion of the back plate, a waist belt coupled to the waist belt load portion of the back plate, and a bottle of compressed breathable air secured to the shoulder strap load portion of the back plate.

  • Publication number: 20140305437
Abstract: Apparatus and associated methods relate to a body-worn unitary harness having a shoulder portion and a waist portion in tensile communication with one another, such that both the shoulder and the waist portions can be simultaneously adjusted using a single adjustment mechanism to conform to a wearer's body. In an illustrative embodiment, a length of webbing may thread through an angle-turning buckle and change direction therein. Tensile forces in the length of webbing may be directed in different directions on either side of the angle-turning buckle. A single clasp may facilitate both donning and doffing of the unitary harness. An implement connector may be coupled to a hip member and configured to connect an implement to the unitary harness. Various exemplary unitary harnesses may provide comfortable implement carrying capacity while automatically adjusting relative waist and shoulder lengths to accommodate a user's movements and positions.
