  • Patent number: 8245023
Abstract: A method capable of executing programs for a computer system operating in a shut down state includes generating a control instruction while a key of the computer system is pressed down; storing the control instruction; and performing actions according to the control instruction when the computer system is booted up.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 30, 2009
Date of Patent: August 14, 2012
    Assignee: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.
    Inventors: Jin-En Liao, Chiy-Ferng Perng
  • Patent number: 8060786
Abstract: A method for recovering a basic input output system (BIOS) and a computer device thereof are disclosed. The computer device includes a motherboard, a power button, a BIOS storage unit, and an embedded controller. The BIOS storage unit is disposed on the motherboard, and it stores a first boot block code and a second boot block code. When the computer device is connected with a power supply to supply standby power to the motherboard, and the power button is not pressed, the embedded controller detects whether the first boot block code is damaged. If the first boot block code is damaged, the embedded controller recovers the first boot block code via the second boot block code.

  • Publication number: 20090243544
Abstract: A protective circuit for preventing a smart battery from being damaged is provided. The protective circuit includes a memory unit, disposed in the smart battery, for storing a preset value; a discharging unit disposed in a portable electronic device and coupled to the smart battery; and a control unit, coupled with the memory unit and the discharging unit, disposed in the portable electronic device. When the portable electronic device is connected to an external power supply, the control unit counts and updates the state of the preset value every preset time, and when the preset value reaches a specific value, the control unit controls the discharging unit to discharge the smart battery through the discharging unit.
