  • Publication number: 20020150477
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for controlling operation of a linear motor compressor, by which a linear motor compressor can operate always in an optimum condition by coping with the load variation due to changes in a refrigerator and the circumstances. In more detail, a current peak value at TDC=0 is detected by comparing a current applied to the linear motor compressor with a formerly detected current, and accordingly the linear motor compressor is operated by a switching control signal generated according to a duty-ratio corresponding to the current peak value.

  • Publication number: 20020064464
Abstract: In an apparatus and a method for controlling operation of a linear compressor, operation of a linear compressor is controlled by finding each inflection point as a TDC (top dead center) is 0 by using a current and a displacement vector generated in the linear compressor, determining a duty ratio on the basis of the inflection point and generating a switching control signal according to the determined duty ratio.

  • Publication number: 20020064463
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling an operation of a linear compressor includes: a sensorless circuit unit for detecting a current and a voltage applied to a linear compressor and outputting a work operation value corresponding to them; a stroke controller for receiving the work operation value and outputting a switching control signal corresponding to a variation amount of the work operation value; and an electric circuit unit for receiving the switching control signal from the stroke controller and outputting a certain voltage to the linear compressor, accordingly, a TDC of the piston in consideration of an error due to the nonlinear characteristic can be controlled, and thus, an operation efficiency of the linear compressor can be improved.

  • Patent number: 5904049
Abstract: A refrigeration system is disposed within a refrigerator having a freezer compartment and a refrigeration compartment. The refrigeration system includes an evaporator having an inlet and an outlet. A damper is positioned so as to direct air flow into the freezer compartment or the refrigeration compartment and correspondingly block air flow to the other. A compressor is coupled to the evaporator via a conduit and a control valve is coupled to the inlet of the evaporator to control flow of refrigerant. A condenser is coupled to the control valve by a liquid line. A first temperature sensor is positioned so as to detect refrigerant temperature within the evaporator and a second temperature sensor is positioned so as to detect refrigerant temperature at the outlet of the evaporator. A first controller is coupled to the control valve and to the first and second temperature sensors to receive temperature signals therefrom.
