  • Publication number: 20070095165
Abstract: A pedal assembly for a bicycle includes a pedal body, a pivot seat, and a bearing. The pedal body has a side provided with a pivot seat for mounting a single bearing, so that the position of the axial center of the pivot seat can be changed to reduce the distance between the force applying point of the user's foot and the axial center of the pedal body greatly. Thus, the force applying point of the user's foot is closer to the axial center of the pedal body, so that the rotation radius of the pedal body is closer to that of the crank of the bicycle, thereby saving the manual work and decreasing the centrifugal effect.

  • Patent number: 7105313
Abstract: The invention provides methods and compositions for screening for pharmacological agents which regulate gene expression in mammals. An exemplary assay involves (a) contacting a mammalian cell comprising a knock-in mutant of a targeted native allele encoding a reporter of gene expression, wherein the expression of the reporter is under the control of the gene expression regulatory sequences of the native allele, with a candidate agent under conditions whereby but for the presence of the agent, the reporter is expressed at a first expression level; and, (b) measuring the expression of the reporter to obtain a second expression level, wherein a difference between the first and second expression levels indicates that the candidate agent modulates gene expression.

  • Patent number: 7101681
Abstract: Methods for identifying modulators of nuclear hormone receptor function comprise the steps of (a) forming a mixture comprising a nuclear hormone receptor, a peptide sensor and a candidate agent, but not a natural coactivator protein of the receptor, wherein the sensor provides direct, in vitro binding to the receptor under assay conditions; (b) measuring an agent-biased binding of the sensor to the receptor; and (c) comparing the agent-biased binding with a corresponding unbiased binding of the sensor to the receptor. In particular embodiments, the sensor comprises an amphipathic alpha helix nuclear hormone interacting domain comprising a recited nuclear hormone transcriptional coactivator motif sequence, the sensor is present at sub-micromolar concentration, the binding reaction occurs in solution, the sensor comprises a fluorescent label and the measuring step comprises detecting fluorescence polarization of the label.

  • Publication number: 20060102807
Abstract: A cable bracket for a bicycle has a frame and a resilient fastener. The frame is preferably Y-shaped and has a body with a looped end and two branched ends. The looped end has a cable recess for holding at least one cable. Each branched end has a hook for receiving the resilient fastener. When the two branched ends embrace a tube of the bicycle at a proper position, the resilient fastener has two ends secured on the hooks to make the frame attach on the tube firmly. Thereby, the cable bracket is detachably mounted on the tube. Moreover, the looped end only keeps the cable within the cable recess and does not constrict the cable so that the cable is kept in its original form without deformation or disturbance in operation.

  • Patent number: 7021175
Abstract: A racing type pedal includes a main body, a pivot hook, a limit member, an adjusting bolt, a press block, and two torsion springs. Thus, the movement of the adjusting bolt is limited by the limit member, and the movement of the press block is limited by the torsion springs, so that the adjusting bolt and the press block form a linear movement without deflection, thereby producing an evenly distributed shearing stress between the adjusting bolt and the press block, thereby preventing the adjusting bolt and the press block from being worn out due to an uneven shearing stress.

  • Patent number: 6981742
Abstract: A cushion includes a flexible curved main body having a first end formed with a fixed portion and a second end formed with a movable portion, and an elastic mechanism mounted on the main body and biased between the fixed portion and the movable portion of the main body. Thus, the elastic mechanism is stretched by the movable portion of the main body to mate with variation of the curvature of the main body, so that when the main body is pressed and deformed by the user's weight, the main body has a greater elastic action, and the curvature of the main body is changed automatically by the elastic force of the elastic mechanism so as to fit users of different statures and weights.
