  • Publication number: 20080106672
Abstract: A polarizing plate includes a base layer, a buffer layer and a plurality of conductive lattice lines. The buffer is formed on the base layer. The conductive lattice lines are formed on the buffer layer in a stripe shape to reflect and polarize incident light. The buffer layer protects the conductive lattice lines. The conductive lattice lines include a silver (Ag) layer or an aluminum (Al) layer. Therefore, the buffer layer protects the conductive lattice lines, so that the lifetime of the polarizing plate may be increased. Furthermore, the display quality of a display panel and a display device having the polarizing plate may be enhanced.

  • Publication number: 20070019410
Abstract: An optical sheet includes a diffusion layer, a brightness enhancement layer, and a reflecting pattern layer. The diffusion layer diffuses the light generated from a light source, e.g. a lamp. The brightness enhancement layer is on the diffusion layer. The reflecting pattern layer is between the brightness enhancement layer and includes a gap and a reflective structure in a first region and a second region, respectively. to the reflective structure maintains a distance between the brightness enhancement layer and the diffusion layer. The optical sheet is useful for enhancing the luminance of the light from the lamp. When used with a backlight assembly for a display device, the optical sheet is capable of enhancing the luminance while also decreasing the overall thickness of the backlight assembly.

  • Publication number: 20060132670
Abstract: A light-reflecting member includes a resin composition having a porous structure. The porous structure may be formed by infiltrating/exhausting a super critical fluid into/from a resin composition. A resin composition is mixed and heated at a temperature no less than about a glass transition temperature. A super critical fluid is infiltrated into the resin composition at a pressure no less than about a critical pressure. The super critical fluid is released from the resin composition by decompressing the resin composition to an atmospheric pressure to form a porous structure.

  • Publication number: 20060103790
Abstract: A diffusion sheet diffuses light to enhance luminance uniformity. The diffusion sheet includes a base film and a diffusion layer. The base film is optically transparent. The diffusion layer is formed on a surface of the base film. The diffusion layer includes a diffusion pattern having a plurality of first diffusion members that enhance front-view luminance. A cross-section of each of the first diffusion members having an arch shape, the cross-section being taken along a line that is substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of the first diffusion members. The backlight assembly requires no prism sheet, which is usually used for enhancing front-view luminance, thus lowering the manufacturing cost.

  • Publication number: 20060077547
Abstract: A diffusing reflective polarizing film has a liquid crystal film and a diffusing layer. The liquid crystal film includes a cholesteric liquid crystal diffusely reflecting a first component of a light substantially in parallel with a twisted axis of the cholesteric liquid crystal and transmitting a second component of the light different from the first component. The diffusing layer is attached to the liquid crystal layer to diffuse light from the liquid crystal layer. Thus, the diffusely reflective polarizing film may improve brightness uniformity, thereby preventing a warping phenomenon of the diffusely reflective polarizing film.
