Abstract: A system for determining a likelihood of future malignant edema occurring in a patient includes an input, a processor coupled to the input, and a memory coupled to the processor. The memory includes instructions that program the processor to receive, through the input, computed tomography (CT) scans of the patient after occurrence of a stroke in the patient, determine at least one cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) metric from the CT scans, and determine a likelihood of a future malignant edema occurring in the patient based at least in part on the at least one CSF metric.
