  • Patent number: 11853167
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a method, an electronic device, and a computer program product for backup. The method includes: determining a plurality of buffer periods associated with a plurality of pending backup operations of a plurality of objects, each buffer period being a preprocessing period for a corresponding pending backup operation. The method further includes: determining a plurality of predicted execution durations of the plurality of pending backup operations based on historical execution durations of respective historical backup operations of the plurality of objects. The method further includes: determining priorities of the plurality of pending backup operations based on the plurality of predicted execution durations and the plurality of buffer periods. The method further includes: executing the plurality of pending backup operations based on the priorities.

  • Patent number: 11809283
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method, an electronic device, and a computer program product for deleting backup data. The method includes determining a set of non-backup time periods for an object based on a set of backup time periods for the object. The method further includes selecting a subset of non-backup time periods from the set of non-backup time periods on the basis of a time length. The method further includes deleting backup data of the object in the subset of non-backup time periods. By the embodiments of the present disclosure, a suitable time period can be selected, and unnecessary backup data is effectively deleted from the selected time period, thus improving the success rate of deletion of backup data.

  • Patent number: 11726885
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system for managing file level restore agents is provided. The operations comprising: determining a computing resource usage level at a data protection appliance; determining whether the computing resource usage level at the data protection appliance is below a first threshold; in response to determining that the computing resource usage level at the data protection appliance is below a first threshold, assigning a new file level restore-associated job to a first tier file level restore agent for performance; and in response to determining that the computing resource usage level at the data protection appliance is not below a first threshold, assigning the new file level restore-associated job to a second tier file level restore agent for performance.

  • Publication number: 20220283910
Abstract: An efficient method for optimizing long-term retention backup policy within recovery point objectives (RPO). Specifically, the disclosed method proposes a dynamic promotion scheme through which short-term retention backup copies, in compliance with specified long-term retention RPOs, may be promoted to render long-term retention backup copies. Further, the disclosed method not only looks to past and/or presently dated short-term retention backup copies, but also looks to prospective (or future) dated short-term retention backup copies, which are expected or predicted to be produced, for promotion. Moreover, in circumstances where there are no appropriate past, present, or future dated short-term retention backup copies to promote, the disclosed method triggers new backup operations to acquire the long-term retention backup copies necessary to maintain the specified long-retention RPOs.

  • Publication number: 20150278090
Abstract: A cache driver, a host bus adapter and methods used by them are provided. The method used by the cache driver includes: receiving a first I/O request for accessing data, and sending a second I/O request to a host bus adapter (HBA). The cache driver sends the second I/O request in response to determining that the first I/O request accesses hot data on a HDD. In that case, the second I/O request is a request to the HBA to send a third I/O request to both the HDD and an SSD. The method used by the HBA includes: receiving a second I/O request from a cache driver. The second I/O request is a request to the HBA to send a third I/O request to both a HDD and an SSD. The HBA then sends the third I/O request.
