    Abstract: A disk player having a self-compensating dynamic balancer which can limit internal vibrations generated by an eccentric center of gravity of a disk, and a turntable, a clamper and a spindle motor which incorporate a self-compensating dynamic balancer. The self-compensating dynamic balancer is formed integrally with rotating members in a disk player; that is, a turntable, a clamper and/or a rotor of a spindle motor. The self-compensating dynamic balancer includes at least one race which is integrally formed with the rotating member and rotates around a rotational shaft, a mobile unit which is located in the race to be capable of moving, and a cover member for covering an opening of the race. Thus, internal vibrations occurring due to the eccentric center of gravity of the disk can be effectively limited by the self-compensating dynamic balancer in which the mobile unit is disposed far away from the center of orbital rotation by a centrifugal force during rotation thereof.

    Abstract: Provided are a magnetic recording medium and a method of manufacturing the magnetic recording medium. The magnetic recording medium includes a substrate, a soft magnetic underlayer formed on the substrate, a texturing layer formed on the soft magnetic underlayer and including a uniform pattern, and a recording layer including magnetic grains and a non-magnetic boundary region isolating the magnetic grains. The magnetic grains and the non-magnetic boundary region of the recording layer are formed into a regular granular structure by segregation according to the regular pattern of the texturing layer. Therefore, a regular granular structure can be formed in the recording layer without a process such as etching of the recording layer, so that the recording density of the magnetic recording medium can be largely improved.

    Abstract: A nano-imprint mold and a method of manufacturing the same are provided, which can be used for replicating a nano-scaled structure to a polymer layer. The nano-imprint mold comprises: a substrate; a pattern portion having a prominence and depression pattern formed on the substrate; a hard layer formed of a material with a hardness higher than the pattern portion on a surface of the pattern portion; and a separation layer formed on a surface of the hard layer. In the nano-imprint mold of the present invention, an original pattern can be uniformly replicated even on a substrate with an irregular surface. Further, the pattern can be prevented from being damaged by pressure and being contaminated by synthetic resin, resulting in better accuracy and durability of the pattern.

    Abstract: A hard disk drive having a vibration reducing damper is disclosed. The hard disk drive is provided with a damper which is interposed between a through hole provided at a cover plate and a screw joined to the upper end of the shaft of a spindle motor, and includes at least one viscoelastic material layer. It is preferable that the damper has a multi-layered structure in which at least one high stiffness layer has relatively higher stiffness and at least one low stiffness layer made of a viscoelastic material has relatively lower stiffness. With the above configuration, the damper restrains vibrations generated by the spindle from being transferred to the cover plate, noises generated by the hard disk drive are reduced, and, in addition, since vibrations generated by the spindle motor are damped, disk fluttering is reduced.
