Patent number: 7475642Abstract: A table includes a table top and a table frame. The table frame preferably includes one or more side rails, end rails, table legs, and support braces. The table also includes a mounting structure that is provided on the underside of the table top. At least a portion of a support assembly is connected to the mounting structure. Desirably, the mounting structure and the support assembly are disposed towards the center portion of the table, but the mounting structure and/or support assembly could be located in any desired portion of the table. Preferably, one end of the support braces is pivotally attached to the support assembly and the other end is pivotally attached to a table leg. Advantageously, the support assembly provides a “planar” support area to a portion of the table top.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2003Date of Patent: January 13, 2009Assignee: Lifetime Products, Inc.Inventors: Jin Shenghao, Chen Zhurong, Arvin Patel

Publication number: 20040237856Abstract: A utility table preferably includes a substantially planar table top with a generally flat top surface and a bottom portion. The table top is preferably constructed from blow-molded plastic and a lip may be formed on the bottom surface of the table top. The lip is preferably located along the outer periphery of the tabletop, but the lip could be located in any desired location. A plurality of connecting apertures is preferably formed in the lip. A first bushing or sleeve is configured to be disposed in each connecting aperture and a second sleeve may be disposed in an opposing connecting aperture. A table leg can be secured to the table top by connecting the table leg to a cross bar, inserting a sleeve into a connecting aperture and disposing an end of the cross bar into the sleeve. The lip may include other structures such as grooves or recesses which serve to distribute the weight of the table top.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 23, 2003Publication date: December 2, 2004Inventors: Jin Shenghao, Arvin Patel

Publication number: 20040237855Abstract: Support structures are provided having an improved connecting structures. Support structures include tables, chairs, and the like. The improved connecting structures securely connect a support surface and a support leg. For example, the improved connecting structures of the present invention can be used to connect a table top to a table leg. In one embodiment, a table top has a raised portion extending from a bottom surface thereof. A connector having a horizontal portion and at least one vertical portion is secured to the raise portion. A table leg is then pivotally connected to the connector. The connector can be U-shaped or L-shaped. The length of the vertical portion of the connector is less than the height of the raised portion of the table top.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 30, 2003Publication date: December 2, 2004Inventors: Chen Zhurong, Jin Shenghao
