  • Patent number: 7573610
Abstract: An intelligent color gamut management method. The intelligent color gamut management method performs a saturation mapping and a luminance mapping separately according to a characteristic of a target device, thereby enabling the target device to represent a natural color image. Accordingly, it is possible to reduce color reproduction distortion of an image between different color devices having different color gamuts and also reproduce a natural color image, and also, secondary CMY colors, which vary depending on a color temperature, can be adjusted to be more natural. Since the color gamut boundary can be easily obtained, a memory capacity can be saved a freedom of algorithm can be increased.

  • Publication number: 20080084502
Abstract: A data transmitting/receiving apparatus and method in which color gamut information is added to a teletext signal in a blanking interval so that a display device can recognize whether a color gamut has been extended, are provided. The apparatus includes a control unit which determines whether an image signal is a wide color gamut signal. A signal processing unit encodes color gamut information of the wide color gamut signal and allocates the color gamut information to a data region of a teletext interval if it is determined that the image signal is the wide color gamut signal. The signal processing unit transmits an image signal including a teletext packet in which the color gamut information is recorded.

  • Publication number: 20070132866
Abstract: An image capture device and method for capturing an image with color distortion minimized based on a wide color gamut and an image having color properties appropriate to various standards, and a recording medium storing a program for performing the method. The image capture device includes a first conversion unit converting an input image signal into an RGB signal having a wide color gamut, a gamma correction unit performing gamma correction on the RGB signal using gamma curve information determined according to an output format of the image capture device, and a second conversion unit converting a color domain of the gamma corrected RGB signal into a luminance and chrominance signal having a color domain determined according to the output format of the image capture device, using a color domain conversion matrix.

  • Publication number: 20050276474
Abstract: A gamut mapping apparatus and method using a vector stretching that increases lightness and chroma depending on the shape of a gamut under a consistent chromaticity of a color signal of a source device. The gamut mapping apparatus may include a first color space conversion block to convert an input color signal into a first color signal of a LCH color space; a vector stretching block to perform the gamut mapping and to output a second color signal; and a second color space conversion block to convert the second color signal into a color space of the input color signal. The gamut mapping may be carried out under the consistent chromaticity such that a frequency of discoloration decreases. Also, gamut mapping can be performed after the source and the target gamuts are calibrated such that adverse effects caused by geometrical characteristics of the gamut and a decrease in chroma are reduced.

  • Publication number: 20050276473
Abstract: An apparatus and a method of detecting a color gamut of a color device and a method of calculating a color space inverse transform function using the same. The color gamut detecting apparatus includes a color space converter to convert a color space of an input color signal to a device-independent color space and to output a first color signal, an intersection point detector to detect an intersection point between a boundary surface of a color gamut of the first color signal and a plane of a uniform hue, and a control vector calculator to calculate a control vector corresponding to a primary color value of the detected intersection point. Therefore, a precise color gamut can be detected by calculating a control vector in a device-dependent color space based on an intersection point with the plane of the uniform hue or the plane of the uniform lightness in the device-independent color space.
