    Abstract: A cylindrical secondary battery includes a cylindrical can receiving an electrode assembly therein and having a cap assembly mounted to an open upper end thereof. The electrode assembly comprises a positive electrode sheet and a negative electrode sheet wound with a separator interposed therebetween. The cap assembly includes a top cap located at an upper portion thereof and protruding upwardly therefrom, a concave venting member located at the lower portion of the top cap and wrapping around an outer circumferential edge of the top cap, and a gasket configured to hermetically seal the cylindrical can. A positive electrode tab of the electrode assembly is directly coupled to a lower surface of the venting member, and the cylindrical secondary battery further comprises an insulative fixing member configured to fix the position of the positive electrode tab.

    Abstract: Disclosed are a method for manufacturing a secondary battery and an auxiliary case configured for use during manufacturing of the secondary battery. A gas generated in the secondary battery may be discharged to prevent an electrode assembly and the secondary battery from increasing in thickness, and an electrolyte may be efficiently injected into the secondary battery. A method for manufacturing a secondary battery includes: an accommodation step of accommodating an electrode assembly into a battery case; a connection step of connecting an auxiliary case to the battery case, the auxiliary case having an inner space therein; an injection step of injecting an electrolyte into the battery case and the auxiliary case; an electrolyte supply step of moving some of the electrolyte from the auxiliary case into the battery case; and a gas supply step of moving a gas from the battery case into the auxiliary case.

    Abstract: To solve the above-described objects, a method for manufacturing a secondary battery according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: manufacturing an electrode assembly in which electrodes and a separator are alternately stacked; inserting the electrode assembly into a battery case through an opening; covering the opening of the battery case; injecting an electrolyte into the battery case through an injection hole formed in the battery case; closing the injection hole; performing a pre-formation process; and applying external force to a switch of a gas discharge device formed on one surface of the battery case, thereby linearly moving a gasket of the gas discharge device and opening a gas discharge hole, such that a first gas generated in the battery case is discharged to an outside of the battery case during the performing of the pre-formation process.
