  • Publication number: 20110129697
Abstract: A secondary battery includes a protection circuit module (PCM) electrically connected to a bare cell. The bare cell is wrapped with a first sheet, a water permeable second sheet placed on the first sheet, and a submergence label placed between the first sheet and the water permeable second sheet. The submergence label indicates if the bare cell has been exposed to moisture. The label sheet further has a stacking structure, wherein the second sheet is placed on top of the first sheet and the submergence label is interposed between the first sheet and the second sheet. Accordingly, it is possible to determine whether a user has disassembled, modified, or reused the battery and it is possible to easily verify whether or not the secondary battery has been submerged in a liquid due to a user's carelessness or mistake.

  • Publication number: 20110117396
Abstract: A battery pack having a function for preventing operation of the battery pack when an abnormal replacement of a battery cell is detected or preventing a use of the battery pack in which a cap has been removed. The battery pack generates an encryption code and writes the encryption code to data flash when a battery cell is normally discharged according to a first voltage, and if an abnormal power-on reset is detected on the battery cell, the battery pack may check the stored encryption code to a second encryption code generated upon power-on reset. If the codes do not match, firmware of the battery pack is deleted and/or a fuse is blown, making it is possible to prevent the battery pack from being re-used when the battery cell has been replaced or in which a cap has been removed.
