  • Publication number: 20090285581
Abstract: A passive optical network is disclosed that enables burst mode operation without some of the disadvantages for doing so in the prior art. An embodiment of the present invention comprises a receiver that receives optical signals from transmitters of a plurality of optical network units. For each transmission from an optical network unit, the receiver provides an output signal based on a comparison of the optical signal and a reference voltage that is specific to that optical network unit. A digital-to-analog converter generates the reference voltage in a data rate-independent manner based on information provided to it from the control plane.

  • Patent number: 7573628
Abstract: An actuator which is actuated by an external input and also can remove noise caused by a high frequency by providing a low pass filter capable of preventing a particular high frequency through its mechanical structure. The actuator includes an external gimbal, an internal gimbal, and a connection axis which is disposed in an identical direction to an axis extended from the external gimbal. In this intake, the connection axis is provided between the external gimbal and internal gimbal whereby a not desired high frequency vibration may not be transmitted to a vibrated body provided in the internal gimbal. The actuator constructed as above does not need an electrical control and an additional part, and can be actuated by an external input, and also is highly productive and does not require an additional cost by providing a low pass filter with only comparatively simple change of a mechanical design.

  • Patent number: 7561375
Abstract: A disk drive assembly including a disk drive, a bracket for containing the disk drive, and a damper for absorbing an impact transmitted to the disk drive. The damper may have a shape of a ring to encircle a corner of the disk drive and may be formed of an elastic material to buffer an impact transmitted between the disk drive and the bracket. Particularly, since the width and/or diameter of the damper may be formed with a minimized size, the damper is capable of providing sufficient buffering properties. In addition, the space occupied by the damper may further be minimized. Thus, since the space occupied by the disk drive assembly may be reduced, it is possible to favorably apply the assembly to a portable electronic device.

  • Patent number: 7535446
Abstract: A liquid crystal on silicon (LCOS) device includes a wafer, glass, and walls formed at opposite ends of an upper surface of the wafer to define a predetermined cell gap between the glass and the wafer. A thin piezo-electric layer is attached onto a surface of the wafer and an electrode is applied with external power to expand and/or contract the thin piezo-electric layer. The LCOS device further includes a voltage detection unit for detecting a voltage generated by the deformation of the thin piezo-electric layer; and a feedback control unit for compensating for deformation of the thin piezo-electric layer according to the voltage detected by the voltage detection unit. The LCOS device achieves uniformity of the cell gap by adjusting the voltage level of the thin piezo-electric layer after bonding the wafer and the glass, and therefore, spacers are not required.
