Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for creating a MultiPhoto Video or MusicPhoto Video (MPV) file that enables minimization of resources and/or storage capacity required to use the MPV file in a multimedia application environment, and a storage medium having recorded thereon a computer readable program for performing the method. The method includes: generating profilebag elements based on multimedia content; generating unique identification information of assets included in the multimedia content; generating a last uniform resource locator (LastURL) based on universal resource identifiers (URIs) of the assets included in the multimedia content; and creating an MPV file corresponding to the multimedia content using the profilebag elements, the unique identification information of the assets, and the LastURL. Accordingly, the MPV file, which is available to multimedia reproducing devices having limited resources and/or storage capacity, can be provided.

The method creates one of an absolute LastURI and a relative LastURI as the LastURI of the content asset according to protocol type information, so that content recorders and/or reproducers using different file systems can easily find and share the content asset based on the MPV file.

With a method of manufacturing a parallel chip embedded printed circuit board, comprising: (a) forming a parallel chip by connecting in parallel a plurality of unit chips having electrodes or electrically connected members formed on the upper and lower surfaces thereof, using at least one conductive member; (b) joining an electrode on one side of the parallel chip to a first board; and (c) joining an electrode on the other side of the parallel chip to a second board, chips may be embedded in a printed circuit board at a low cost, as a plurality of unit chips can be embedded at once, and a mechanical drill or router can be used instead of a laser drill in perforating the cavity or via holes.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for backing up broadcast files are provided. The apparatus includes a received file information analysis unit which analyzes package information included in a metadata file received from the digital broadcast apparatus and extracts storage location information and/or file name information regarding a broadcast file corresponding to the metadata file from the package information; a file request unit which transmits a message to the digital broadcast apparatus requesting the broadcast data file obtained by the received file information analysis unit; and a storage unit which receives the broadcast data file from the digital broadcast apparatus and stores the broadcast data file together with the metadata file in response to the message. Accordingly, it is possible to back up broadcast data files on a storage medium with a large storage capacity by referencing respective corresponding metadata files that are packaged together with the broadcast data files.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing time information of broadcast streams are provided. The method includes: extracting time information from each of the respective input broadcast streams; setting the time information, extracted from an input broadcast stream that has been set in advance as a reference broadcast stream, as reference time information; and calculating time information for each of the respective input broadcast streams by comparing the time information of each of the respective input broadcast streams with the reference time information. Accordingly, it is possible to minimize various errors caused by errors among time information extracted from the respective broadcast streams when executing a time-dependent application program, such as a time recording program.

The printed circuit board with embedded electronic components having outer electrodes comprising a substrate on which insertion holes are formed for containing the electronic components, a filler for filling the gap between the electronic component and the insertion hole to secure the electronic components, and attachment layers laminated onto the substrate in contact with the electrodes, with circuits formed on the attachment layers, may provide superior electrical reliability, as the outer electrodes of the electronic components are in contact with the attachment layers, and may reduce fabrication cost and time, as it is not necessary to form via holes.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for storing a broadcast program are provided. The apparatus includes: a signal processing unit which generates an audio/video (A/V) file, an application file, and a first electronic program guide (EPG) file by appropriately processing a plurality of A/V signals, application information, and EPG information, respectively, which are included in an input broadcast program transport stream; a synchronization unit which receives the A/V file, the application file, and the first EPG file from the signal processing unit, generates storage information for the A/V file and storage information for the application file, and converts the first EPG file into a second EPG file comprising the storage information for the A/V file and the storage information for the application file; and a storage unit which stores the A/V file, the application file, and the second EPG file.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving a partial font file are provided. A partial font file transmitter included in the partial font file transceiving apparatus includes a storage unit for storing at least one font file for rendering characters, and a partial font file producing unit for extracting character information from received broadcasting application contents and transforming the font file stored in the storage unit on the basis of the extracted character information into a partial font file. Accordingly, a partial font file corresponding to the character information included in the broadcasting application contents is produced and used in data broadcasting environment, so that relatively rapid data transmission is possible and the usability of a bandwidth increases.

Abstract: Provided are a method and apparatus for setting the time of a real-time clock included in a digital broadcast receiver. Since the digital broadcast receiver sets the time of the real-time clock included therein, based on time information contained in a received transport stream, it is possible to synchronize the time of the real-time clock with a reference time based on the time information contained in broadcast data transmitted by a broadcast transmitter. Accordingly, it is possible to minimize time-related errors during the execution of a time-dependent application program such as a scheduled-recording program.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for reproducing multimedia data using a MusicPhotoVideo (MPV) profile. The method for reproducing multimedia data using a profile complying with the MPV standard, includes: detecting a reference element indicating that a predetermined profile among a plurality of supported profiles is used, in an MPV document; updating the MPV document using information on a profile corresponding to the detected reference element; and reproducing multimedia data by parsing the updated MPV document. Accordingly, by using the MPV standard profile, multimedia data can be reproduced more efficiently.

The LastURL fixup method includes managing location change information on location change of the content asset and fixing up a LastURL by referring to the location change information. The method and apparatus enable users to conveniently and easily manage assets obtained in multimedia appliances such as a digital still camera.

The method for managing cyclic referencing that may occur by mutual references of assets in a file provided to control assets in a multimedia application environment, includes: detecting an asset generating cyclic referencing; and ignoring the asset generating cycling referencing. According to the methods and apparatuses, cyclic referencing that can occur in a file to control assets can be detected and processed such that the system can be prevented from entering an indefinite loop or causing an erroneous operation.
