    Abstract: Techniques for reducing or eliminating cross talk in row-column addressed array (RCA) probes are described. A diode can be connected in series to piezo-composite element in each pixel of the RCA to prevent cross talk. A resistor can also be provided in parallel to the piezo-composite element for discharging purposes and providing DC paths for the forward and backward bias voltages to the diodes. Thus. RCA probes using the techniques disclosed herein can use sub-apertures for, among other things, inspecting longitudinal and transverse flaws, and for more efficient local focusing for an acoustic camera without significant cross talk interference.

    Abstract: Acoustic evaluation of a target can be performed using an array of electro-acoustic transducers. For example. a technique for such evaluation can include generating acoustic transmission events using different transmitting apertures, the apertures defined by corresponding zones along the array, the zones including multiple electro-acoustic transducer elements. In response to the respective acoustic transmission events. respective acoustic echo signals are received. Representations of the respective received acoustic echo signals are coherently summed. The coherently summing includes applying determined nominal element delay factors to the respective representations to approximate a virtual probe normal to a nominal shape of a surface of a structure being inspected. A pixel or voxel value is corresponding to a specified spatial location within the structure being inspected is generated using the coherently summed representations.

Training parameters of the second recognition comprise the traffic sign recognition parameters and the first recognition, the accuracy of the training result being improved by combining other sensors to perform traffic sign recognition training.

    Abstract: A method for spraying Robinia pseudoacacia on exposed shale wall to efficiently and rapidly restore green and improve soil pH value is provided. External-soil spray seeding is used to spray mixed microorganisms, organic fertilizer, and soil on exposed shale walls with a green plant of Robinia pseudoacacia to efficiently and rapidly restore green and improve soil pH value. The mixed microorganisms include Kocuria sp. X-22, Microbacterium sp. X-26, Bacillus sp. X-28 and Microbacterium sp. X-18, and the mixed microorganisms are added to organic fertilizer and soil by fermentation broth. The weight ratio of mixed microorganisms, organic fertilizer and soil is 1:1:8. The method can promote the rapid growth of Robinia pseudoacacia on the exposed shale wall and significantly increase organic matter content, effective phosphorus content, and pH value of the Robinia pseudoacacia soil.

The method and system involve establishment of a reference database by conducting FMC acquisition on a first calibration block having standardly known indications with a first series of depths and under a laboratory standard calibration condition. Then phased-array operation is conducted on a second calibration block, which is substantially the same as the first block, having indications with a series of corresponding user measured depths and under a second calibration condition as close to the laboratory condition as possible. The calibration is then made with the gain compensation calculated based on the response signals from the indications of the second block, the first series of gain data from the reference database, and the user measured depths for the corresponding indications under the second calibration condition.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a composite focusing wedge for ultrasonic non-destructive testing/inspection. The composite wedge comprises a base made of machined or cast material, and a lens made of a material which is cast in liquid form and subsequently solidifies. The acoustic velocity in the base material is less than that in the lens material. The castable lens material conforms exactly to a convex machined or cast surface of the base, thereby forming a concave lower surface of the lens. A flat ultrasonic probe is coupled to a planar upper surface of the lens. The minimum distance between the lower concave and upper planar surfaces of the lens is less than one acoustic wavelength in the lens material. The ringdown time of reverberations between the two surfaces is then sufficiently short that there is no interference between the reverberations and signals from sub-surface flaws in the object being tested.
