Abstract: A method of and an apparatus for selectively releasing a predetermined length of weft thread in shuttleless looms, wherein a separating wheel provided with a control on the periphery thereof, having unequal heights or angular spacings, displaces a winding of weft thread, having an insertion length and wound in a space between two controls, in the direction of withdrawal of the weft thread, along a supply drum comprised of segments and always releases at least one complete insertion length of weft thread into the warp shed at a time period determined by a weft thread releasing program.

Abstract: There is disclosed a control mechanism for the sand rollers of looms. The output of the cloth take-up motion of a loom is drivingly connected to a first input shaft of a differential gearing mechanism, and the second input shaft of the differential gearing mechanism is drivingly connected to the output shaft of an electric motor. The electric motor is under the control of a mechanism which selectively permits its starting and stopping. The output shaft of the differential gearing mechanism is drivingly connected to the sand roller. The electric motor is preferably of the reversible type, the means for controlling the motor then including means for selectively reversing the motor. During the ordinary operation of the loom, the sand roller is driven by the cloth take-up motion through the differential mechanism, the electric motor being then switched off and locked.

Abstract: There is disclosed a back rest mechanism for a loom. In a first disclosed embodiment a back rest roller is rotatably mounted on the outer ends of parallel arms or levers, mounted for oscillation about their inner ends, which are connected for joint movement by a hollow back rest shaft. Deflection of the back rest roller by the warp passing from the warp package on the warp beam to the shed of the loom is resiliently opposed by one or more torque rods extending between and connected to a central portion of the back rest shaft and a fixed part or structure, such as the frame, of the loom. Means is provided for adjusting the basic torque to which the torsion bar or bars are subjected under a predetermined set of operating parameters of the loom.

Abstract: A constant tension regulator for controlling the tension of positively unwound flexible material, particularly warp threads in a weaving machine. Means are operatively mounted on the frame of the regulator for sensing changes in tension in the unwinding flexible material. These sensing means output a control movement in accordance with sensed tension in the unwinding flexible material which is translated to a mechanical integrating unit and a proportional adjusting unit, arranged in parallel, which jointly transmit a control variable adjustment to the driving means of the warp beam thereby adjusting its rotary speed in accordance with the sensed tension.

Abstract: Device for depositing thread supply, particularly weft thread supply for unconventional weaving machines such as jet looms, the device being arranged between the feeding and withdrawing mechanisms for the thread. Said device has a thread inserter and at least one magazine in the shape of a body of revolution, on the circumference of which there is a system of ribs for depositing at least one thread, the said magazine and inserter being adapted for mutual relative motion.
