    Abstract: The invention relates to an acrylic copolymer composition useful for 3-D printing, that can be formed into a uniform filament and 3-D printed using material extrusion additive manufacturing, into an article having low warpage, low shrinkage, good internal optical properties, and good mechanical properties. The acrylic copolymer has a low Tg, providing the proper stiffness for good 3-D printing. The invention also relates to the printing and processing of the acrylic composition where internally transparent 3-D printed thermoplastic parts can be produced at a reasonable rate (>0.05 mm per layer) with good/great layer adhesion, and near isotropic properties.

    Abstract: The invention relates a material extrusion additive manufacturing method for producing a clear, internally transparent part composed of amorphous thermoplastic polymer layers at least 0.1 mm thick. The invention also relates to internally clear parts made by the method, having an internal haze of less than 25%, less than 15%, less than 10% and even less than 5%. The method creates a printed dot or line of amorphous thermoplastic polymer that remains at a high internal temperature for a long enough period of time to allow the polymer chains in each layer to be mobile and fluid, permitting sufficient inter-layer chain entanglements to reduce and eliminate layer lines. With a nearly 100% dense final part, voids are eliminated. The resultant printed article has a very high internal clarity, and can have a haze of less than 5%.

    Abstract: The invention relates to the composition of core-shell impact modifiers, in particular those with a high Tg core, a low Tg inner shell and a high Tg outer shell, synthesized in such a way to have a unique concentric morphology and/or a combination of high rubber loading and low particle size and/or require only a low surfactant level. The incorporation of these impact modifiers into polymeric compositions allows for a novel combination of high impact while retaining high gloss or a combination of high impact while retaining low haze in the presence of water at elevated temperatures. These impact modifiers also allow excellent efficiency in their use- allowing for excellent impact to be achieved at low loadings.
