Publication number: 20240319024Abstract: A smart skin system includes tactile sensors that mimic the functions of human skin by sensing pressure, vibration and humidity simultaneously and generate electric signals as a result thereof; and a machine learning assisted data processor that interprets the electric signals from the sensors and quantitively perceives the stimulation in terms of pressure, vibration, and environmental humidity. The sensor structurally comprises (1) a single-ion conducting electrolyte, which provides contact electrification, serves as a hygroscopic layer and produces DC hygroelectric signals in response to humidity, (2) a gold electrode and (3) a separatable aluminum electrode as a counter triboelectrification layer that produces AC triboelectric signals in response to contact.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 5, 2024Publication date: September 26, 2024Applicant: The University of Hong KongInventors: Dongmyeong SHIN, Xiaoting MA, Eunjong KIM, Jiaming Zhou, Jingyi GAO

Publication number: 20240322711Abstract: A switchable triboelectric nanogenerator (s-TENG) which obtains energy by utilizing the electrostatic potential between water droplets and frictional surfaces. The s-TENG device includes an ITO film substrate as an electrode, a SU-8 mold grid located on the ITO film substrate and forming an array of air gaps as an air breakdown region, and a FEP film on the SU-8 mold grid as the surface of the friction layer. A water source is variably positioned at a distance from and at an angle to the s-TENG device so that water droplets contact the friction layer, so that direct current is obtained without the use of a rectifier due to electrostatic induction causing break down in the air breakdown region of the SU-8 mold grid.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 24, 2023Publication date: September 26, 2024Applicant: THE UNIVERSITY OF HONG KONGInventors: Dongmyeong SHIN, Jiaming ZHOU, Eunjong KIM, Xiaoting MA, Jingyi GAO

Patent number: 11727015Abstract: Systems and methods of monitoring for anomalous data records. The system conducts a method including: receiving a data record associated with at least one meta attribute to determine whether subsequent processing of the data record is warranted; generating an anomaly prediction for the data record based on a detection model and the at least one meta attribute associated with the data record, the detection model defined by a plurality of score distribution representations based on quantile bins and a dynamic quantile weight for providing an interim anomaly measure corresponding to respective score distribution representations, wherein the anomaly prediction is generated based on a combination of interim anomaly measures associated with respective meta attributes associated with the data record; and transmitting a signal representing the anomaly prediction for presentation at a user device for identifying one or more data records for subsequent data processes.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2020Date of Patent: August 15, 2023Inventors: Kanika Vij, Igor Reshynsky, Hameet Jassal, Emma Hu, Min Liang, Adam Lazure, Esther Choi, Rowan Comish, Jingyi Gao, Gladys Leung, Diane Fenton

Publication number: 20210200746Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods, and devices for data anomaly detection. A signal reflective of an input data set having a plurality of dimensions is received. Co-variance across said plurality of dimensions is assessed. Upon said assessing, at least a portion of the input data set is transformed into a dimensionality-reduced data set. For each given data point in the dimensionality-reduced data set, an anomaly score informative of whether said given data point is an anomaly is calculated.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 29, 2020Publication date: July 1, 2021Inventors: Vincent Chiu-Hua HUANG, Jingyi GAO, Jinda YANG, Kanika VIJ, William KURELEK

Publication number: 20210201403Abstract: Risk levels for accounts are assessed based on account data for the accounts, including reconciliation status and balance values. For each of the accounts, risk criteria scores are assigned for a plurality of risk criteria, based at least in part on one or more of reconciliation status and balance value for the account, and a composite risk score is determined for the account based on a weighted summation of a selection of the risk criteria scores for the account. A density distribution of the composite risk scores is generated for an audit population of the accounts, and quantiles determined. Thresholds are identified based at least in part on the quantiles of the density distribution, and a risk rating assigned to each of the accounts in the audit population based at least in part on the composite risk score for that account as compared to the thresholds.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2020Publication date: July 1, 2021Inventors: Kanika VIJ, Igor RESHYNSKY, Eujean KIM, Rowan COMISH, Jingyi GAO, Adam LAZURE, Abdulrahman ALLAHHAM

Publication number: 20050243278Abstract: The invention provides possible methods and facilities of watching movies in common theaters. A watching method includes: installing two projectors, each showing respectively a picture plane of a pair of 3D frames; synchronous manipulation making the two projectors alternate in light transmission and light block one in light transmission another in light block; alternating with each other: synchronous signals sending to liquid crystal polarizing glasses; a liquid crystal light valve and projectors alternating with each other synchronously to make audience see the left picture with left eye and right picture with right eye and form the complete 3D picture. The invention can improve the bright evenness of the pictures, easy to maintain screen and to embrace common and 3D movies only if used in existing film projectors or video projectors. It only needs to press a switching button without changing lens and screens, suitable to remold existing common theaters into embracing common and 3D theaters.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 12, 2005Publication date: November 3, 2005Inventors: Ming Li, Zhigang Rong, Jingyi Gao, Daoqiang Liu, Liang Ding

Publication number: 20050014567Abstract: An amusement simulation apparatus and method is disclosed. The simulation apparatus includes screen, projector, rotating platform carrying passenger, rotating shaft and aligned passenger seats round the machine room positioned on the platform and hanging by the suspending structure. When the platform is in upright position, passengers seating in the passenger seats face the screen positioned in front and view the image (2D or 3D) projected on the screen. The passengers are almost in the same vertical plane but in up and down relation. The blocking plate divided the passengers in different rows. The platform and the passenger seats can both pivot upon their shaft. Passenger seats in the left and right columns can rotate round the longitudinal yawing shaft to achieve better viewing effect. Pivoting movement of the passenger seat, combining the special effect of wind blasting, simulates the flying experience vividly.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 24, 2003Publication date: January 20, 2005Inventors: Ming Li, Zhigang Rong, Jingyi Gao, Daoqiang Liu
