  • Patent number: 12159202
Abstract: Technologies for performing error correction in a quantum circuit of a quantum computing system are disclosed. A quantum error correction code (QECC) is selected. The QECC is associated with a codespace. The quantum computing system identifies, based on one or more properties of the QECC, one or more diagonal physical gates in the quantum circuit that induces a target logical gate and preserves the codespace. The quantum computing system configures the quantum computing circuit to implement a quantum error correction protocol using the QECC and at least one of the identified diagonal physical gates.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 27, 2023
Date of Patent: December 3, 2024
    Assignee: Duke University
Inventors: Arthur Robert Calderbank, Jingzhen Hu, Qingzhong Liang
  • Patent number: 12050967
Abstract: Technologies for addressing coherent noise in a quantum system are disclosed. To passively correct for errors in measurement caused by coherent noise, the quantum system implements an error correction code such that the error correction code effectively reduces the coherent noise to act as an identity operator in a protected subspace of a Hilbert vector space.
