    Abstract: A heat management safety enhanced vehicle battery pack based on nested lithium ion batteries includes an insulating housing. K insulating positioning and connecting plates are arranged in the insulating housing along a vertical direction. The positioning and connecting plate on each layer includes the batteries in M rows and N columns to form battery pack units. All the battery pack units perform output alone or perform output after being connected in series or in parallel to form a battery pack. Each battery includes a metal shell and a cell filled in the shell. The shell includes an inner cylinder and an outer cylinder. The inner cylinder is located in a through hole in the center of the outer cylinder. A gap is formed between a side wall of the inner cylinder and a secondary outer wall of the outer cylinder. The cell includes an outer cell and an inner cell.

    Abstract: A nested structure lithium ion battery capable of reducing a risk of thermal runaway includes a metal housing and a battery cell filled in the housing. The housing includes an inner cylinder and an outer cylinder. The inner cylinder is located in a through hole in the center of the outer cylinder, and there is a gap between a side wall of the inner cylinder and a secondary outer wall of the outer cylinder. The battery cell includes an outer battery cell and an inner battery cell. The outer battery cell is filled in a cavity of the outer cylinder, and the inner battery cell is filled in a cavity of the inner cylinder. This nested structure lithium ion battery divides the battery cell into two parts. The gap is used as a heat dissipation channel in a high temperature environment.

The testing system includes a mechanical loading device, a heating device, a lithium-ion battery tester and a measuring device. By comparing the influence of a combined use of two or more of mechanical abuse with two different fixed variables, thermal abuse, and electrical abuse on critical conditions of thermal runaway of the lithium-ion battery, the influence of the different forms of abuse on the critical conditions of thermal runaway of the lithium-ion battery can be compared qualitatively and quantitatively, and these data can also be used to determine the safe operating windows of the lithium-ion battery under different abuse conditions.
