Publication number: 20150326897Abstract: A mechanism for booking events comprising an. event broker, one or more event managers and one or more action handlers. In one embodiment, the event broker is configured to register a plurality of event bookings, each of which identifies an event and a corresponding action. For each event booking, the event broker notifies an event manager which is configured to detect the type of event identified in the event booking. When the event manager detects the identified event, it notifies the event broker. The broker then notifies an action, handler which is configured to initiate the type of action identified, in the event booking. The action handler then initiates the action. If the event booking is non-recurring and the action is complete, the event booking is unregistered by the event broker. The event broker is configured to work in conjunction with a plurality of event managers which can detect different types of events and a plurality of action handlers which can initiate different types of actions.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 18, 2015Publication date: November 12, 2015Inventors: Ludovic Pierre, Thierry Godin, Rama Murty Kalluri, Jino Nguyen

Publication number: 20040250277Abstract: A method for acquiring and storing schedule event information in an interactive television system. The schedule event information includes events and a start time and date for each of the events. The method includes creating a window defined by a start time and date and an end time and date and receiving the schedule event information at a receiving station. The schedule event information is stored for events having a start time and date within the window. The method further includes automatically moving the window forward relative to the start time and date at a specified interval such that the end time and date of the window are always after a current time and date. A system for acquiring and storing schedule event information is also disclosed.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 8, 2004Publication date: December 9, 2004Applicant: OpenTV, Inc.Inventors: Felix Freimann, Jino Nguyen, Jean-Rene Menand

Patent number: 5956097Abstract: A video receiving device (A) that includes a circuit for receiving first video signals from a remote transmitter, a circuit for receiving second video signals from another video receiver (TVS), a circuit (TU1) for automatic searching for transmission channels, and a circuit (PC) for phase comparison between the vertical synchronization signals of the first video signals and the vertical synchronization signals of the second video signals that can output an "outphasing" signal that is used for controlling the operation of the automatic channel search circuit, wherein the video receiving device (A) also includes a control circuit (CC) that enables the video signals that it is receiving to be displayed for a pre-determined time on the other video receiver (TVS). The invention is applicable notably to the programming of video recorders, and to the automatic tuning of such a recorder to the channel being viewed on a TV receiver in order to enable simple and immediate recording of this channel.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1996Date of Patent: September 21, 1999Assignee: Thomson multimedia S.A.Inventors: Jino Nguyen, Yves Maetz

Patent number: 5877822Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method and a circuit for storage of digital tuning data and parameters for a number of television channels in a rewritable memory. The channel search is initialized by pressing a single button to initialize a scan of the reception frequency band. The scanning of the frequency range is interrupted for a preset time-out period .DELTA.t each time a stop-scan signal is generated and resumes automatically until the entire range has been scanned. After each stop-scan pulse, if the single button is pressed during a time-out period, At, the system begins toggling through the possible values of each parameter relating to the station, the current value of the parameter being memorized when the single button is pressed again. The invention also includes a television and video cassette recorder implementing the above method.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 1996Date of Patent: March 2, 1999Assignee: Thomson Multimedia S.A.Inventors: Nour-Eddine Tazine, Jino Nguyen, Yves Maetz

Patent number: 5822014Abstract: There is disclosed a method for selecting programs in a digital video reception system adapted to receive digital data streams. The method comprises the steps of receiving information corresponding to program identification elements; displaying the identification elements in the form of a mosaic of elements (10) on a screen of the reception system, where the arranging of identification elements (10) in the mosaic is performed before transmission; receiving information describing the location of each program thus identified in a data stream broadcast by a transmitter (15); and selecting one of the programs by selecting at least one identifier clement. A device for selecting programs in a digital video reception system is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 1995Date of Patent: October 13, 1998Assignee: Thomas multimedia S.A.Inventors: Jean-Marie Steyer, Yves Maetz, Jino Nguyen, Nour-Eddine Tazine
