Abstract: An accumulator tank is mounted on a working head of a replaceable head type machine tool. The tank is connected to each spindle housing on the head to deliver a pressure fluid and jet the same forwardly through the interior of the housing and out an insertion gap surrounding a spindle mounted in the housing. Pressure fluid is supplied to the tank when the head is coupled to a driving unit through respective connecting opening and supply openings. An air jetting opening made in a docking portion of the driving unit to prevent foreign material from lodging therein and blocking entry of a corresponding pin on the working head during coupling can also be the supply opening.

Abstract: A replaceable gang head machine tool including a machine base, a working unit thereon, plural gang heads on the periphery of the working unit, and an index table on the upper side of the working unit, further including a supporting base positioned above the machine tool, a stock apparatus mounted on the supporting base comprising a center support, plural gang heads on the periphery of the center support, and an index table on the upper side thereof; and a replacing apparatus positioned away from the machine tool and the stock apparatus extending between the machine tool and the stock apparatus for effecting a replacement between the gang heads on the machine tool and the gang heads on the stock apparatus.

Abstract: A transfer type working system including a transfer line for intermittently conveying workpieces thereon. The transfer line has plural stages of working stations disposed in front and rear relationship. Each of the working stations has at least one machine tool for working on one of the workpieces on that station. Each of the machine tools comprises a ganghead replaceable machine tool having plural gangheads arranged to be selectively operable. Each of the working stations has, at a preceding position thereof, a front sensor for reading the kind of workpiece on a preceding position so that, in the course of conveying any of the workpieces to each of the working stations, one of the gangheads that corresponds to the kind of workpiece read is previously selected for operation by a signal obtained at the front sensor.

Abstract: A jig table apparatus for a machine tool is provided. The apparatus comprises first and second jig tables for holding workpieces thereon. A base for positioning adjacent a machine tool and elevating table are provided at a work station for supporting and raising and lowering one of the jig tables at the work station. Also provided is a turntable, a work attaching and detaching station for supporting one of the jig tables and for moving the jig tables to a position for removing a workpiece therefrom and for placing a workpiece thereon, and a transfer device is mounted on the base for moving the first and second jig tables between the working station and the work attaching and detaching stations. The transfer device includes claw members which are coupled to the elevating table and are responsive to the movement thereof, such that the claw members are moved to an engaging position when the elevating table is raised and to a disengaging position when the table is lowered.

Abstract: An apparatus for driving an index table which includes a first shaft, an index table rotatably mounted on the first shaft having grooves therein forming a Geneva gear and a mechanism for driving the table in rotation including a drive motor, a second shaft driven by the motor, a crank mounted on the second shaft, and a Geneva pin mounted on the crank. The grooves have force bearing walls which include straight portions and sector portions. The Geneva pin is engaged in the grooves in the table to effect stepwise rotation of the table to equispaced, predetermined angular positions. The second shaft and the grooves are spaced from each other such that the distance from the axis of the second shaft to the circumferential surface of the pin is less than the distance from the axis of the shaft to the straight portions of the force bearing walls of the grooves.

Abstract: A replaceable gang head machine tool comprising a working unit having a driving motor mounted on a slide table adapted to be driven forwardly and rearwardly and an annular rail disposed on the machine base and carrying a plurality of gang heads adapted for being driven by an index table to selectively place a gang head in an operative position. A stockyard extends longitudinally adjacent the machine base and has a longitudinally extending runway guidably supporting a carrying truck for movement therealong and a plurality of replacement gang heads are disposed on the stockyard along the length thereof so that the replacement gang heads can replace the heads disposed on the annular rail by the carrying truck.

Abstract: A replaceable gang head machine tool unit having a driving motor, the unit being mounted on a slide table arranged to be driven and advance in a given direction wherein: there is provided an annular rail comprising a rear stationary rail and a front movable rail disposed on a machine base, a plurality of gang heads disposed around the annular rail and supported thereon, the plurality of gang heads being arranged to be rotated on the annular rail by an index table to permit any desired gang head to be selected therefrom on the movable rail. When the working unit is in a retreated position in the machine base, the selected head on the movable rail may be joined to the unit for travel therewith together with the movable rail.
